raspberry lemonade soda

Although the calendar may not say it’s summer, the weather is warming up, at least here in the Southeast, and I know you’re probably looking for fun activities to keep your kids happy and cool.

Get them in the kitchen and let them help you make this refreshing raspberry lemonade soda! There are no artificial dyes involved and it’s perfect for a hot day. If you can find fresh raspberries at your grocery store or local farmer’s market, all the better, but you can also use frozen raspberries if you need to—just let them thaw before you try to make the soda.

I’ve also included a fun recipe for a homemade slurpee. It simply uses the soda you’ve already made and ice. You can make any soda into a slurpee if you add enough ice. It will certainly save you money this summer if you make them at home instead of stopping by the local gas station to get them!

Raspberry Lemonade Soda Recipe

Raspberry Lemonade Soda

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice (about 5-6 lemons)
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 pint raspberries
  • 20 oz club soda

Directions

  1. Add the lemon juice to a container that can be sealed (I used a quart-sized juice jar). Pour in the sugar and stir until the sugar is completely dissolved.
  2. In a blender, puree the raspberries. To remove the seeds, pour and push the raspberry puree through a sieve into a bowl. Discard the seeds and pour the seedless puree into the container with the lemon juice. Stir to combine.
  3. Slowly pour the club soda over the mixture and then gently stir (be careful; the soda can be really fizzy!).
  4. Serve over ice and store leftovers in the refrigerator. This recipe makes 1 quart.
