I know many of you are chomping at the bit waiting for the next Harris Teeter big coupon event… well it’s official, starting August 10th (next Wednesday) Harris Teeter will run Super Doubles.

For any that are new, this means that any coupon $1.98 or less will double in value.  Harris Teeter still follows their normal coupon policies and super doubles only 20 coupons per day, and also only accepts 3 like item coupons per transaction.

What to expect on Southern Savers:

I’ll do three lists of deals for you!

1.  Friday afternoon – List of regular priced items that are great deals with high value coupons.
2. Monday afternoon – Harris Teeter sneak peek ad
3. Tuesday afternoon – List of unadvertised sale items

Tips to get ready:

  • Use the coupon database and search for “$1.50” or “$1 off”.  The database will show you all the high value coupons you have.
  • Head to Harris Teeter this week and if they are out of any deals get a rain check.  While you can’t get a rain check for super doubles (you can get one but nothing special will happen), you can use a rain check during Super Doubles and now you are the only person that wants those deals!  Remember too… Harris Teeter rain checks never expire!! Get more info on how to get rain checks.

So excited, going to go super early on Wednesday to beat the shelf cleaners.

      • Elizabeth

I don't have a Harris Teeter by my house, and the one by my work is pretty small, so if there's good stuff I will leave early for work and stop at the big one in the town I pass by on my way to the office. LOL!

      • Make sure you go to a 24 hour store and in line at 7:00 on the dot. That's how the professionals do it and that's why if you come in at 8 or 9 am, the deals are gone. In this game, it's you snooze, you lose!

    • Mechellemills

      THANK YOU!!!!! LOVE ITTTTTT!!!!!!!!

    • Mhmazzoli

This is one of my favorite holidays!

    • Pamela

    • Alphagamsquirrel

So you can use a BOGO raincheck from another time AND get super doubled?

    • JessicaMSC

I hope they have a good amount of deals! If I don't save at least $50 there is no point to go with how far I have to drive.. Buuuut I LOVE HT! :)

      • Jenni Lou Who

        ME TOO!!! :)

    • Kelli Campbell

What a great idea to get rain checks for this week's sale items!

    • Karmah60

Hopefully it's a great ad, and worth the 40 minute drive!

      • Erica52190

I have a 40 minute drive also! but I am sure it will be well worth it! Glad I am not the only one traveling for it!

    • MommyTo2Monsters

Hope it'll be great savings! I have a 30 minute drive and I've been stocking up! Big trip with me and the hubs on next Friday!!

    • Pamela

does anyone normally have issues with their coupon policy

      • Vkostyal

Yes, I wont go in there any more, I just send my husband, this one out here is ridiculous!!!

        • Pamela

where is that harris teeter. i have had an issue with publix and will not shop there anymore. i love bilo, they are great.

      • Judy- NC

Not here in Greenville, NC at the Belks Fork HT They are great.

      • Julie

I have to say my HT in Cary, NC is awesome!  Anytime there has been a problem, a manager has fixed it immediately.  Compared to other stores in my area, HT is a dream in the coupon arena.

        • Sonyrose34

I agree the  Cary stores are great.. especially the one on Green Level Rd.  If you go at night the night crew is great! The one manager keeps his crew really motivated by singing and doing other funny things. We cracked up the night we were there!

    • Kjwecurn18

I am new to this…What do you mean by  3 like item coupons per transaction?

      • Julie

It means that if you buy let's say 4 Jiff Peanut butters, you can only use 3 coupons.  Not 4.

        • You can buy the 4 Jiff pb's but you won't get the fourth coupon doubled.

      • Missy

It means if you have 4 coupons for an item they will only super double 3, the other one you get the face value of that coupon.  So if it's for 1.50 off they aren't going to double it to3 dollars. Does that help?

      • Karmah60

It means if you have 3 $1/1 Cascade coupons, you can only use / buy 3 per transaction.  It's a small obstacle keeping people from buying 20 of something and clearing shelves.

    • Julie

      Jenny is the awesomnest!  :D

    • Reneec11202

Yeah just in time for my birthday the 14th :) Happy Birthday to ME!!!!!!

      • MommyTo2Monsters

Mine's the 13th! The big 3-0 here! Happy Birthday!

      • Judy- NC

Mine is this Friday, the 5th…I'll celebrate at HT on the 10th.

      • Jennkinlaw

me too!!! Mine is the 10th!!!!!!!!

    • RevoltaDeFenix

I am officially pumped. I just discovered there is an HT in my area and just went there for the first time yesterday. We saved $80 and that was with my husband adding things to the cart without me noticing (worse than our toddler – HAHA). I'm super exciting about super doubles!! Thank you for everything you do on this site, it's such a life/money saver!!

      • Judy- NC

I thought  I was the only one with a hubby that sneaks things into the cart…I keep telling him…”stay to the list”…a lot of good that does…:)…he has as much fun as I do on our coupon shopping trips…have fun and enjoy your HT shopping super doubles…it is fun…

        • RevoltaDeFenix

HAHA Mine teams up with our sneaky almost 3 year old daughter to “distract and grab” HAHA I'm sure I will have a blast, same to you!

        • Jenniferhall871

This is my most recent conversation with my husband
(his question..) “honey, can I get some fudge striped cookies?” (my response..) “um, I dont know, check the binder and see if there is a coupon for it..(his response..) “but honey, there isnt one, I checked already..” (my response..) “OH WELL..” HAHA

          • Melinda H

I do that to my husband all the time!!!!!  He wonders why I don't buy him Little Debbie cakes and I tell when they come out with a coupon, I will:)

    • Pamela

i dont want to drive all the way to ht and have an issue with the coupon policy. i would be driving from sc to nc to shop.

    • I can't wait! :-D

    • Any body live near the one in Williamsburg Va? Driving 45 minutes to get there and need to know what to expect……I know that one is a 24hour store so what time do the switch over?

      • ANTHENA

at 7 am and they are a 24 hr location

        • how early would you suggest getting there? It wouldn't be fun to drive all that way and have the shelves naked!

          • Karmah60

            When they open.

A store here recently had super doubles up to 2.00 the same weekend they were running a special on Tide.  The shelf was empty when I got there at 8.  They opened at 7.

            • I have experienced that. But this store is open 24 hours. They switch apparently to 7 but in theory you could get there at midnight and just wheel your cart around until you can check out at 7! Never been to this store for doubles so not sure what to expect!

            • Karmah60

Yikes.  If someone wants to wheel around and hang out at HT for 7 hours, they're more hardcore than I, LOL – especially knowing that HT's rainchecks never expire.  I'm so not worried about missing out on a deal this time.  I'll just grab a raincheck and wait for super doubles to hit again. :)

It's my first time doing HT too.  In fact, I just drove out to Chesapeake to get my Vic card about an hour ago.  Yay!

            • Did my first super doubles at bloom last week and the shelves were wiped out in minutes! The rain checks are a good idea but I don't make it there that often since I am a ways away! Was thinking of getting there at 5:30, just not sure what to expect! My car died today so I had to pull a “honey how much do you love me? It would be so romantic if you took me to super doubles at Harris Teeter next week!” I am so pathetic! Also does anyone know if they frown upon multiple trips through the line? The web-site kinda makes it seem that way but Bloom actually suggested it to me last week!

    • Michelle G.

This is exciting, but apparently my Harris Teeter has people that drive down in buses from Virginia and get to the store at 4am and wipe everything out so that everyone who lives within 5 miles of the HT doesn't get anything right away.

      • Kristen

Well.. Isn't that nice of them. :(

      • Noelle704

Aww I'm sorry, I'm lucky to live in HT's home market, there's like a HT every few miles in Charlotte. I personally shop at 4 different HT near my house but I avoid the downtown HT.

    • Canine

How many days do they do super doubles?

      • Deb

        one week

    • Amber

Thank you for posting this! Only been to one Super Double before and I got a lot of great deals so I'm hoping to have the same next week. It definitely was crazy last time with lots of cleared shelfs! I have a 17 month old that has to go to a babysitter and I have a 9-5 full time job so getting to the store at 7 am just isn't gonna happen! If all the “good” deals are gone by 8:30 then so be it! There will be another sale another day!

    • allysehansen

quick question about super doubles (i'm new to the south and this site) – coupons $1.98 and under are doubled – is that before they match them at the store?

Ex: a coupon for $1.25 would be worth $2.50 plus that match that? or is it just $2.50 with them matching it at the register??

Also is a regular coupon of 75 cents just worth the normal $1.50 during the doubles or $3?

      Thanks for the clarity! :)

      • Slaurenclemmer

The Super Doubles is just the coupon listed x 2, to my experience.

        • allysehansen

          thanks! appreciate the help.

      • Slaurenclemmer

and the coupons less than a dollar are always doubled.

      • pete

super double just means that they will now double coupons up to $1.98 instead of the regular $0.99, it does not mean that they double the coupon like a regular week and then double it again because it is super doubles(only thing that changes is the value of the coupon they will double, a higher priced coupon, they dont double and then double again)

    • Megan

This will be my first HT trip period. Its a 40 minute drive for me with 2 little ones. Any advice or things i should know??

      • Slaurenclemmer

Yes!  Shop Online.  You can still use coupons.  They will run them for you before charging you.  Good luck!

        • Nicole Crutchfield

Not sure of how your store works, but I called my store about using the coupons when shopping online and I was advised that you have take the coupons to the store before the order is completed, or the coupon value will be provided off of your next order, but they cannot do the coupons when you get to the store to pick up the order and have them applied. It may just be my store in Newport News. Weird. Kinda defeats the purpose of shopping online if I have to go to the store early to give them the coupons.

      • mamabelbel

I shop with 2 little ones also and my advice is to be VERY organized.  I have no time to browse and tons of items were out of stock last time.  I had to make 3 lists.  One for my top 20 items that I most wanted to use coupons on, Second one for my second favorite/needed items, and third list for stuff I know that are going to be a good deal.  Then I can easily move down to the next list when half the first list is sold out.  Then I just readjust my lists that night and head out again the next day.  By the third day my kids start having tantrums by the time they see the store again!  Being organized so that I can get in and out fast is the only thing that helps me.  Last time my store was sold out of lots of great deals when I got there at 8am.  Still got plenty of great deals, but wasn't able to get many of my most favorite items until Monday or Tuesday when they were restocked and some of the craziness had settled down.

    • Jdanaya22

My HT in Hickory, NC triples coupons every week and then does super doubles once a month. they have been doing this since Feb. of this year..makes deals even better!

      • sarah

could you tell me which one I live in lincolnton and would love to go thanks

        • Vhigh54

sarah it is on 127 past Frye Regional…. its a long haul.  The store is very clean and has alot of choices but the cashiers are unfreindly in my opinion or I should say the one who checked me out was unfriendly….  I felt the drive wasn't worth it from Where I live in Lincolnton but I also didn't have very many coupons that specific week.  Also, I am used to the HT in Lincolnton keying in coupons that won't scan and they refused to in Hickory.  I hope you have better sucess

      • Pamela

what do they triple the coupons up to. thank you, really great info

      • Pamela

        hey jdanaya22,
could you tell me which one because there are two coming up in the store locator for ht catawba store and nash. thank you so much

        • Tbsweet

          catawba store

      • Jodi

I live in Wilkes County. We do not have a HT here so I have to drive to Boone, Winston, or Hickory! They're all about the same distance from my house… Is there more than one HT in Hickory? If so, do you know if they all do it there or is it just one particular HT? Thank you so much for sharing this!! I may have to start doing my grocery shopping there..lol

        • Tbsweet

One store in hickory in belle hollow. They do triples every week except for when they do super doubles. Triples are any coupon 99c and under. Example: a 75c coupon would triple to $2.25 savings.Super doubles is any coupon $1.98 and under. Example: a $1.50 coupon would double to $3.00 savings.

    • Meganfoster48

Yayyy it feels like its been forever…

    • Tcorvin2

Whoohoo!  Thank you Harris Teeter and THANK YOU Jenny for giving us advance notice.  You are wonderful!

    • Newtothis

Ok,I am VERY new to couponing and have N embarrassing question- do you have to have 2 coupons or do they automatically double a single coupon. Thanks! Love this site.

      • Chele17rene

single Q up to 20 Q's per day!!

      • Karmah60

Aw, no question is embarassing.  You have to learn somehow, yes?

They automatically double a single coupon through their computers.  You only need to bring one per item.

    • Pbrunson

will they double any coupon or is it on certain items

      • Chele17rene

$1.98 or less and my HT will NOT take do not double Q's!!HTH

    • Tamara

Thanks to Jenny I love shopping at HT.  However I have to drive a good
distance to get the deals but well worth it on the Super Double days.
Need help though on the following comment. “Use the coupon database and
search for “$1.50? or “$1 off”.  The database will show you all the high
value coupons you have.”  I use coupon database to look for certain
products but where do I go to search for certain amounts?  Thanks

      • KK

If you use the coupon database and search for 1.50 it should pull all the coupons up for that amount!

    • curious2

ok i am new to couponing all together… does anyone know how the harris teeter is in holly springs nc? never been there and just curious what to expect… i am driving 40 mins to get there!

      • Aprilcomstock

it's great!  i've been shopping there for years with my coupons!  the one on sunset lake road is the one I shop most at!

        • curious2

ok thanks! i am guessing they open at 7? i have never even been coupon shopping and im excited i get this as my first experience :)

      • Beth

there are 2 within 10 minutes of each other, the BRAND NEW store is very picky, if coupon says do not double they don't, everywhere else doubles all coupons that I have been to. Also, they treated us like we were trying to get something over on them, when the manager had to come over to remove the coupon that had doubled that should not have she went through all my coupons asking the clerk did he check this to make sure it was what was on the coupon.

      • Guest

It's nice.  Large and fairly new.
Don't know where you are, but just up the road – in Cary – there are 6 of them, and fairly close togerther.

    • AmyS.

I love this event. Times are hard and we are down to 1 income so we get more for our dollar with these sales at Harris Teeter. I can't wait. I have my coupon book ready.

    • JR

So glad it is super double time again.  This time I am not going to  worry about any bare shelves.  As I shop I think I will  make a list and get rain checks and save them for another super double event and hopefully be able to get those outage items then.  I guess during shopping events like this I want to remember the saying,   God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can and wisdom to know the difference.  Have fun everyone.

      • Deanna

I did this last time and it worked out ok.  I kept checking through the week to see if they got restocked and waited until the last day to get the rainchecks.  I would NOT suggest that, lol.  Get the rainchecks earlier in the week and you can still keep checking…

    • interested

i know the limit is 20 coupons per visit per person… but does anyone know if you can go to two different stores in one day?

      • JR

No the limit is 20 coupons per day no matter how many stores you go to.

        • interested

          • LadySiren

It's linked to your VIC card so it's impossible to use more than the 20 doubled per day. You can however, use as many other coupons as you like. :)

            • kaki

Yep, and if you do more than 20 coupons, make sure you give the higher value coupons that you know won't double ($2.00 and up) last because after the first 20, none will double.

        • Lou Allen

You could get a second card with a different address

          • Kennedy

I would not encourage that as it states limit one PER household. I'm all for saving money and getting good deals but when you have multiple cards that goes against the rules. Its not fair to the rest of us who are actually honest.

            • Jenniferhall

yeah, i agree but when you have to feed a family of 11 and there is only one working adult, i consider the 3 adults and 8 children living in the household The 3 adults should be able to have a card of their own. It might not be fair, but it is survival in our household. We use 2 cards and we go shopping at different stores.

            • Having never done super doubles at HT this news makes me sad! I was going to drive 45 minutes to shop there but won't bother with the 20 item limit. Even if I take my bf it's not much better! I don't buy anything without a coupon. I have a household of 6! If you figure 3 meals a day Brkfast: 1 box cereal, lunch: sandwich bread, sandwich meat, condiments, chips, beverage,  l spaghetti dinner for us thats 2 boxes pasta, 2 jars sauce, 1 pkg meat, 1 pkg cheese, garlic bread. That's 13 coupons needed per day! So the 20 coupon limit wouldn't even cover us for 2 days! Not trying to hoard…..just trying to eat!

            • Sonyrose34

I also have a family of 6 and we only use one card and are able to save alot with just the 20 coupon limit. Not everything you buy  will have a coupon.. for example the meat you use for spaghetti (if u use ground beef) will not have a coupon. I use the coupons I have and then plan my dinners based on what is on sale that week. I am able to feed my family well. For superdoubles  use the $1 and above coupons to get better deals on items.. you will find you will save alot.

            • Manyfishes

That is they will only double 20 coupons a day but will take more than 20 at face value daily. I know everyone wants the best value for the coupon.

            • Guest

No – they will double ALL coupons under $2 – as many as you like.
The 20-limit aplies solely to those $1 and over.

            • Seargentdimples

My store will not double over 20 coupons, anything over 20 coupons will be at face value.  Guess it depends on the store

            • Guest

              No fresh meat coupons?
              You familiar with winetags?
You need to get on trading boards and start getting some!

              Your pal,

            • KathyM.

Not familiar with “winetags”!  Could you explain please? thanks

            • mamabelbe

Check out the tags that are often hanging on wine bottles in the store or tear pads of coupons on beer displays.  Just this week picked up coupons for $1 off seafood and a $10 rebate when you buy meat/poultry.  I know that not all states are the same, but in NC there was no alcohol purchase required.  Sometimes I catch a lot of these deals and sometimes see nothing for a while, but these can really help with stuff you don't get many coupons for!

            • Savn2gether

I live about 40 minutes away from the closest HT. My mother-in-law has a card too, so we are able to get 40 coupons to double per trip. Just keep in mind that many coupons are for multiple items, such as $1.50/2. We are able to stock up a lot during the HT super double sales. Also, we have gotten a lot of items for free, such as mustard and hot sauce. It's been worth it for us to go a couple of times during the week of super doubles, and that's one of the few times I make the trip to HT. The main challenge I've had is trying to go right after they restock the shelves, so that the hot items aren't all out of stock…. It's definitely been worth the trip for us, as long as they've just restocked!

            • Melinda

Remember the limit of 20 is only for the coupons DOUBLING. This does not include coupons $2 and above–if you plan correctly, your trip can be very successful. :-)

            • Christy B

ALSO if you have any items that happen to be on sale you may not need your coupon to double to still get it for pretty cheap.  Say something is on sale for $1.50 and you have a $1 coupon.  Yes your coupon may be elligible to double (during Super Doubles), but since it probably will not fully double (because most times it will only go up to the value of the item, in this case 1.50) you should still consider that maybe paying only $0.50 is a good deal.

If you already have 20 coupons that will fully double (closest to fully doubling), hold these other coupons until the cashier has scanned the 20 you want to double.  Then give her your other coupons that won't double.  Its not as much savings, but it can still make the most use of your gas and time (esp if return trips are hard.)

The is a completely honest way to make use of good deals and coupons for those who can only go once or twice a week and you can feel good knowing you didn't have to cheat to get good deals. :)

            • Judi

I promise that it will be worth your time.  20 coupons goes a long way, and will help you save a lot of money for a big household.

            • Holly

Have you ever heard of portion control?! A box of spaghetti has 6 to 8 servings in it! A standard package of cheese has 8 servings, and half a loaf of bread is MORE than enough for one dinner. If you teach your large family to stop eating like a bunch of typical overfed Americans, then perhaps you could save a little more money.

            • pete

your personal circumstances are not really anyone concerns, the rules are still the rules, maybe you should have used coupons on birth control and only had enough kids that you can afford to support, too many people have more k ids than they can afford and then expect the government to support them or use and abuse other programs and use the kids to justify everything (this is not necessarily your situation) but this is a major issue in America today, people need to be responsible and not expect to support them but they were irresponsible.

            • Heather

Shame on you!  If you feel the need to put other's down, do it somewhere else, or keep it to yourself.  Also, this site is not to express your own political views.  And FYI, in this unstable economy who are you to judge?

            • Dvdqueen1112

              i no thats right

            • Jenjcakes

Rude…. unless you are GOD you shouldn't judge.

            • Mlgrazier

Pete, while you are up there on your soap box…did you ever think that maybe when they had their children they could take care of them and something traumatic happened like cancer, or other health issues or maybe someone lost their job due to no fault of their own…when I had my 4 children—-my husband & I both had wonderful jobs, in the last 20 yrs. we have had lay offs, plant closings and health issues….I am 42 yrs old and need to have a heart transplant…so I too am not working…LIFE happens and sometimes you have to do what you have to do to take care of your family…I don't advocate being dishonest, but maybe not every situation should be judged so harshly.

            • Pete, though I call them my own I take care of my sister's two kids. She died two years ago from complications with type one diabetes. I personally am unable to have children of my own. The other two people in my house are my elderly grandparents. So NO I couldn't have planned for this any better and do the best I can! Not seeing how me using birth control could have solved this one!

            • Ch2515

Again, there are State and Federal programs to help people in your situation. WE PAY TAXES FOR THEM. Cheating fellow (tax paying) couponers isn't right no matter how you want to paint it.

            • Shopthedeal

And her using more than one card is not your concern, if the store allows it then so be it. It is for the store to rectify the problem and not for anyone else to judge. You can't have it both ways. You can butt in when she is not doing something right but don't care about the circumstances. How about everyone just mind there own business and prepare there trip and make sure that they do the right thing. You are only responsible for yourself and no one else, so just make sure you are cheating the system and that is all you can do.

            • Shopthedeal

You are NOT cheating the system.

            • studentmam

we drive a long ways too three of us together. we still abide by the rules. this is a bonus HT gives us, they do not have too and if dishonest people abuse it then they may have to cut it out completely for us honest ones. 3 adults in your house and only 1 working…rather than steal and cheat maybe others should get a job.  Just saying….

            • 112dvdqueen

well you can have up to 4 card as long as you have email

            • Just as broke as you are

There are food banks where you live correct? If there really are 11 people living in one house and only one person is of able body to work, they will go out of their way to help you, especially when children or the elderly are involved. I understand that you are in great need for food, but rules are rules. Eventually these companies are going to catch on the more people that start abusing these policies. In my town we have already seen what happens when people try to do this. They just start taking away options, some places will only let you use 10 coupons per day, everyday.

            • Cedarhillcabins

I assume that 11 people living under one household with only one working adult most likely receives food stamps.  Survival?  Why not use one household VIP Card and each day a different adult can go to the store and execute the 20 coupon rule like the rest of us and pay cash plus taxes!!

            • Shopthedeal

You don't have to explain yourself or your circumstances to anyone on this blog or anywhere else for that matter. No one should judge you because they don't know you, your family or circumstances. If you do use more than 1 card you have to know that they may catch you and you may loose your super double privileges. If that is a risk you are willing to take than so be it. Good bless you and happy couponing:)

          • Ch2515

            You people are ridiculous!

      • Dvdqueen1112

    • Jen H.

Funny that this has posted, because I just asked the check out clerk today, and he couldn't tell me. But luckily Jenny did!

      • Christy B

Just to let you know.  I work at HT and employees are not told about Super Doubles or Triples until possibly the day before, but most likely the day of.  Of course managers know for scheduling purposes, but I get the impression that is information they are not supposed to share with others.  So if you ask your cashier about when Super Doubles or Triples they will probably honestly say they don't know.

    • Jvz1

Is there a Harris Tetters in or near Chattanooga, Tennessee?

      • Amy Y

pretty sure nashville area is  closest one… i've looked before (im in the same general area)

    • Snellmom

I'm excited.  We just rolled into town with a HT down the road.  I was excited about having coupons over 50 cents double.  This just makes things that much sweeter!!!

    • Sarahoconnor

This doesn't really have to do with Super Doubles, but I just got my e-VIC e-mail and the Saturday special is four certain Kellogg's cereals for $1.87 each.  I also noticed the store promotion where if you buy $10 worth of Kellogg's and Keebler products in the same transaction you get an automatic $5 off.  I can't find any Kellogg's coupons for the cereals listed, but I know I have some pop-tarts, Keebler ones to make up the difference.  Could make for some super-cheap cereal and snacks!

      • Sarahoconnor

Oops, just noticed that you have to buy “10 Kellogg's or Keebler products” not $10 worth.  Oh, well…I guess it was too early for me.  :)

        • MomOf4

You can still use coupons to get the 10 items for $1 each.  I got my Sunday Q's delivered this morning, there are kellog q's inside :)

    • Benavon

I wanted folks to know about my HT experience at Hanbury in Chesapeake, VA.  Many of my B1G1 did not ring up that way–the Hillshire Farm deli, the PF cookies, even blue berries that were on sale.  When I went back the next day for the refund, I got a very hard time from the manager.  In the end, she refunded and more but I would suggest you carefully check your bill there before you leave.  I actually find less mistakes with FF

      • Dumbdoorknob

I'm in the area, and a lot of the items on Jenny's lists don't match our prices here.  I double check everything on Express Lane.

    • Jessdare101

I'm trying to help a very coupon friendly cashier at another store get some of the bargins. DOes anyone have any extra $1/1 marcal, skippy, or 7th generation coupons you won't be needing and would like to share? She didn't get the paper last sunday so she had none. Also I'm looking for the $1/1 mueller's whole grain pasta. Don't let these coupons go to waste when there's someone who would love to have them.

      • qdude

ebay….you can get all the inserts you want.  :)

    • Angandlake

Some people on here are being very rude and judgemental!  In life, you do what you can to survive and to take care of your family.  If someone is doing something you don't fully agree with you need to think, are they hurting me or my family?  If the answer is no, you need something else to worry about.  Watch the news, there's plenty of more important things to worry about there.

      • guest

Its not being judgemental when people CHEAT the system and try to use 2 or more VIC cards to wipe the shelves clean.
I work for HT customer service, and it drives us all crazy when we see customers do this.  I really don't care if someone has a big family or not!
The rules are in place to allow everyone a chance to use their coupons.  Not just the greedy people.
I will be working at 7 am on Wednesday morning.  And you bet I will be enforcing the rules.  Call it what you want.

        • Hummr

i dont get the point of why people get more than one anyway, arnt they all linked to one home address? the system shouldnt let them abuse it automatically!

        • Ch2515

A working, mother of 3, Harris Teeter shopper who is growing disgusted with the dishonesty and greed.

      • infantrn

I don't think being judgemental is quite the right word when people are being dishonest. Is there no one who has a sense of right and wrong anymore?

      • Lizzyreedandme

it is hurting my family if I cannot buy the items for my four year old becausesomeone needed to fill their spare room up with products and don't even have a child!

    • kim

For people that do abuse the system please stop..it takes me thirty mins to get to harris teeter and even if i get their they day it starts..the shelves are already wiped clean…But thats okay because one full day of planning and a thirty min drive mean nothing to the people that abuse the system!!!

      • Guester

        its called a rain check

        • kim

harris teeter doesnt give rain checks for item that are considered “coupon items”

          • Kap599

My Harris Teeter will give rain checks for ANY items they are out of, yours should do the same.

          • Ritz

I agree with Kap599. The Harris Teeter's in my area give Rain Checks for any sale item. They might “limit” the amount you can get, but you'll get it. I'd take it up with the store manager.

        • Sreese79

Yea, but when you drive 30 minutes back to use the rain check you havent saved anything.

        • Sreese79

BTW, here's an idea…….why don't you just get the fail amount of items allowed and if you want more come back the next day and if they are out YOU GET A RAIN CHECK???

        • Ch2515

Some of us can't afford or don't have time to make return trips to the store to mess with rainchecks because of “shelf cleaners”.  There need to be limits on quantities.

          • Holdant29

Actually the number of coupons allowed to be used limits the quantities that can be purchased.  Rain checks are good for a long time, mine have no expiration dates on them.  I do not make special trips back, I go the next week and the items are always back in stock.

      • Holdnat29

Kim, I have the same problem at mine.  I drive 30 minutes to Florence and people like the one above has cleaned out the shelves.  I have learned that I now go on Tuesdays.  By that time the dishonest people have cleared and they have been restocked for the most part.  If not, I just get a rain check for the items.  Has worked out better for me it seems.

    • Angela

      Is it just me?
I get my inserts every Sunday like a good little couponer, but, my pantry has run DRY!!! I look at the ads every week but thereare never any deals on the stuff we buy. Over the winter and through the early spring, we were able to shop, shop, shop getting GREAT deals every week. Since about the end of May, NOTHING. I don't have any children, just my DH and myself so we don't do a lot of the stuff that is targeted to “families”. Just seems like Harris Teeter is starting to research the coupons that are out to make sure those products are NOT listed on sale for any given week. I literally have probably not used 1 coupon in 2 months. I have been paying full price for every grocery bill, except  for the things that are on sale but no coupon available.
They are a few things that I could use a coupon on, but it is usually in the form of a printable, so by the time i find out about it, there are never any coupons left. Is anyone else finding themselves in this situation?

      • Osborne61105

I by no means mean for this to sound rude but there are tons of coupons available you just need to not be brand specific unless you run into a situation where the brand caused you discomfort ( e.g. Purex detergent causes me to break out) use the coupons and hit great deals on brands you've never used before. That way if you find something you don't like or won't be able to use like in the above example then you are not out a whole bunch of money.

      • JL

I someone post that coupons/sale matchups are not as pentiful in the summer as in the other seasons and that the sales will be getting better in the next few weeks. I alternate between Publix and HT depending on which is better. Good Luck.

      • Jnsanske

I was just saying the same thing…. I have cabinets empty now… Seems like the couponing show may have hurt all of us…

    • Sallycoupon

wow, too much information. I just want to read about how to use the coupons.

      • Elizabeth

Uh, That's pretty much what she's telling us.

    • rebecca fitzgerald

The card that you sign up for under your name my be linked to your address but if you go back in and use a fake name, email and address you can get as many as you want.
My neighbor does this all the time and she is the biggest HT shelf cleaner i know.Sometimes it drives me crazy but then again she splits what she has gotten with me and end the end it's free for her and me.
Alot of people on other forums actually post how to quote ' cheat the stores ” . I actually read a 3 page post on this stuff. It's crazy and is unfair for some but i always say To each his own.If it's not seriously hurting someone why bother complaining.
The stores can't do anything about it really if you think about it.Unless they start asking people for SS#'S to get loyalty cards and ID verification. And if they actually were to start doing that who would apply for a loyalty? NO ONE!!
I have also noticed people misusing MVP cards at foodlion now since they have started doing the buy X item(s) and get X amount of item(s) free.I saw a lady the other day at the self check out using 8 different MVP cards to get the 4 free items for purchasing 2 pizza's!!!

      • guest

That is why we are checking IDs now for new VIC cards, and recording the ID numbers. And if i see a customer split their order, we refuse to double their coupons. Or if we know they are trying to get around the system, we will go in the computer and manually link their VIC cards ( the people who have multiples). We mean business at my HT. I work customer service.

        • Cshopper

I shop for my mother who is in an assisted living facility.  I do all of my shopping at the same time (gas prices are too high to be doing two trips).  I use my vic card on the first order and use hers on the second.  So I really hope you are not serious about manually linking vic cards or refusing to double coupons.  If so, then I'll take my business to another store such as Lowes.

          • guest

Yes. We link them. If you are shopping, you need to use your vic card. Not your moms.
We hear this story all the time. We do not allow orders to be split with 2 vic cards, no matter what.

            • Breezy Edwards

I think it is admirable that we still have people who are willing to help their parents and SHAME on any grocery store who can't show a little humanity. Shelf cleaners and cheaters are one thing but honest citizens trying to save their elderly parents a little money is another thing ENTIRELY. If my HT started acting like yours, I would take my business elsewhere.

            • I do not believe it is the stores fault for this policy. They are being forced to do this. It is not that they do not want to let people shop for others but due to others getting false cards just to get that many more of that item.
My thing is this, there is no use for this type of behavior, it is not that you can get three of these and use only three like coupons, and only 20 coupons a day. If you need that many of that item you can return the next day and everyday of the week for that matter and get the limit everyday. These are the policies. Hopefully these people that are not being honest and cheating will be weeded out and things will get a little better. I think the ID thing would be a great idea. and then maybe if you are shopping for someone else maybe you can have their card and ID to do the second transaction, but of course then again there will be people to get around this too.

            • Huntley560

unfortunately it sounds like the “cheaters” ruined it for everyone else so I am sure many pretend to be shopping for others but arent so that when they hear this they never know who is being honest… take the person with you and use a wheelchair, we do that for my grandfather who is 92, good to get out for them once a week too!

          • Huntley560

or take her with you, we take my grandpa who is in assisted living with us, they have the wheelchair and he can use his card himself to checkout.

        • Andio1999

Thank you!  I love HT and the deals, but if the “cheaters” would quit cheater, the rest of us who love a great deal and work hard to get them would fine the product we want on the shelf!

      • Ch2515

Wow, definitely a telling look into the type of person who proudly calls themself a “shelf cleaner”. I'd mention that you ruin couponing for everyone else but based on your message I'm certain you simply don't care. Personally, I would like to see a limit on the number of each item someone can buy and I will gladly show my ID if that's what it takes to stop people like you.

      • Rita

I think your friend is dishonest and please tell her other couponers think she is dishonest.  I can appreciate that you benefit from her dishonestly and that it might be uncomfortable for you to tell her she is dishonest but tell her others on this blog recognize her as being dishonest.  And there is a cost… HT and other stores may discontinue or limit coupons because certain dishonest people, like your friend, take unfair advantage.

When I got my e-vic card I showed my drivers license and I was happy to do this.

Let me share one of my favorites quotes

“All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing.” (Edmund Burke)

      • Lizzyreedandme

it is up to management to stop this from happening. They should realize they are not gaining any “sales” by allowing that behavior and in fact are losing valued couponer customers who play by the book. There is no way it was legal to use 8 cards without the people there. I am an avid couponer myself, and a manager at Walgreens, so it is a sad day when I read about another couponer allowing such behavior.

      • Lgoward2001

actually at HT here in Raleigh you do have to show ur drivers liscence…so how is your neighbor getting another card? Is she using both cards at the same time? Wow she's being totally unfair…I mean does she really need like 12 jars of mustard?!?!

        • Jnsanske

All our stores here ask for your drivers lic. as they should… And there is nothing worse then having your 20 coupons ready for super dbl and the shelves are cleared. rediculous

      • JL

You are condoning what she does by splitting her items with her. Do not kid yourself.

    • ds

I think that HT should increase the limit of coupons they allow daily during super doubles and people wouldn't get these extra cards and ruin it for everyone else.

      • JL

WHY should they?? The are dbling coupons up to $1.99 at thier expense. I think they are very reasonable. I love HT and I see no problem in thier policy.

    • Jacquelyn_nicole_lee

you have to show your license in Northern Virginia to prevent you from doing this, I agree, I think you should be able to use more coupons…can you still only use 3 coupons for the same item?

    • So lets give an example for you to see that this does hurt people and not just their almost $4.00 a gallon price to get there!
My neighbor, a single mother whose husband comitted suicide a few years ago, works a full time and part time job just to get by paying her bills. She does not have the extras, like cable. They use a converter box thing to get basic local channels.
She coupons because she has to. She can not afford not to. She can not get assistance because she is an honest person and works. So she is always going without. Everytime I go over I bring a few things and slip them in the fridge, or I send things home with her kids, I do not want to make her feel bad or feel like a charity case because she is such a great person.
She taught me to coupon about two years ago. But a while back she was telling me how frustrating it is that EVERY time she goes to HT she can only get about a bag full because the shelves are always empty.
This is a woman that never couponed before her husband passed, she started so that her children would not starve. And here in the past year her family is suffering because of dishonest people.
She does everything she can to get what her family needs. So how does it not hurt people is my question to you. She can not afford to go back and forth to the store, she can not afford to pay full price, and she can not afford to work any more hours than she already does and be able to take care of her children.
Why is it souch a problem to follow the rules, why lie? why cheat? why be greedy?

      • me

I'm usually not one to vent about someone's post…but your comment about her not getting assistance because she is an honest person and works……that really bites me the wrong way.  Just because someone is on assistance of any kind does NOT mean they are not honest and that they do not work!  There is a huge stigma with welfare recipients being lazy.  There are stipulations that have to be met in order to get ANY assistance.  I'm a married mother of 4.  I attend college full time, my husband works 50+ hrs a week…we are honest and still get assistance.  PLEASE dont throw that stereotype out like that.

        • Oh Yeah I Went There

Unfortunately the stereotype is there for a reason, the honest folk on welfare are very few and far between.  But you coming on here and planning your trip, you'll know to be there early to maximize your savings and get the most for what little you may have and you'll really benefit from super doubles.  I'm really shocked that even those with welfare don't use coupons or buy store brand to get the most for the money they get…I sure would!

          • me

I think maybe everyone assumes the honest ones are few and far between.  It's not true.  Make a trip to the local DHS and seriously talk to some folks…you'd be amazed at the stories of their life at the moment. It would take away the stereotype.

            • Oh Yeah I Went There

I think in some cases, when you've been in a position to need assistance and haven't been able to get it, it's okay to complain.  When I was working for a company that closed, I decided that was the perfect time to go back to school…because I was only going to school 30 hours a week and not 40, I didn't qualify for any food assistance.  They had some rule that if you were working part time, you had to be going to school for 40 hours a week to qualify for food stamps. Ridiculous.  And of course I didn't qualify for financial aid.  So I got to sit in class with people who's full tuition was paid for, and books, not to mention even money for daily living so they could concentrate on school…AND food stamps and rent assistance on top of it all.  But I did it and I managed.  So yeah, I'll say that's it's darn frustrating and again, there are definitely reasons for the stereotypes.
Again, everyone just sent your darn alarms and get there early to get what you need.  If you don't work and are on welfare, perfect, you have no where else to be.

            • me

You're jealous.  I don't work and get assistance and have PLENTY of things to do with my day.  I go to school full time, have 4 children who are in school and after school actvities.  I VOLUNTEER and help at local womens shelters…b/c I want to.  U really are rude and have probably offended alot of people with that last statement.

            • Cherry

You go me, she is negative. I work at DSS as part of receiving assistance and a full time students do not go to class 40 hours a week. That is a flat out lie. A student is never in class from 8am till 4pm every day. It might be 9am till 3pm moon, wed, fri but not every day. She probably didn't go to college. College is not high school. A full time student is 15 credit hours per semester which 15 hours a week. In my state (DC) you have to be a full time student and cannot work more than 20 hours a week. When you work more than that, you will be denied. Every state is different but no school allows you to attend classes for 40 hours a week. The MAX is 21 credits or 7 classes per semester. I may receive food stamps but I am also educated and not lying about that.

          • me

And who said people on welfare DONT coupon or buy store brand…..

            • Oh Yeah I Went There

The ones I'm standing behind at Walmart sure don't.

            • Mlgrazier

I pray that neither you nor your family ever have to need assistance, b/c you are acting very judgemental…there are good folks—- that for whatever reason may have to rely on welfare..there are good & bad everywhere, but sometimes we have to take our blinders off to see them. There are educated and not so educated…maybe you could offer your free time to a local social services center and teach welfare folks HOW to coupon. Most people would like to save money, no matter where they get it from.  Besides, just b/c someone is on welfare, does that mean they can't buy their family's favorite cereal or drink…is there a law that states they must use store brand?!?  Sometimes store brands are cheaper & sometimes the name brands are cheaper..just have to be a smart shopper:) but for the Grace of GOD, it could be you or I.

            • Oh Yeah I Went There

You apparently didn't read my post that I've needed assistance before and couldn't get it.

            • Smh

Is that why you hate on those who receive it?

        • I am sorry to offend anyone, but I have seen people with real needs be denied, yet others that have brand new SUV's, new clothes, iphones, nails done, new shoes, new this and new that, and somehow are getting 900 a month in food stamps. I work for DSS in the child care assistant department, So I see it ALL the time. We see these things everyday. And it is so saddening! Yes there are some cases that finally do get the help. But here, in this town, I would give it about 80-20. There is nothing we can do if they have the right paper work. So we just watch and wait. The number of cases that are currently awaiting trial for Fraud here is unbeleivable! Atleast three cases are filed EVERY week.
So I should have clarified my statement, but it is saddening to see people that need help be denied!

          • Oh Yeah I Went There

I love seeing people on their iphones at the food pantry and at the welfare office!

            • me

My vehicle is paid for, I get my nails done, and my children dress nice…AND I coupon while on food stamps and I dont get store brand.  my husband make $9 an hour and we're family of 6.

            • me2

Regardless as to whether my vehicle was paid for or not, if I were recieving government assistance, had a family of six, and my husband only made $9/hour, I would not choose to get my nails done.  I'm sure there would be other things I could do with that money rather than have my nails done.  But that's just me.  And btw, my vehicle is paid for, I DON'T get my nails done, my children dress nicely…AND I coupon while NOT on food stamps.  My husband makes a great deal more than $9/hr  and we're a family of 7…as if that matters.  Life is about choices!

            • Wrong

You must have been denied to be so negative.

          • dont get it twisted

i agree..the statements are offessive i am currently in grad school and work fulltime and my kids have everything they need because of couponing. i drive a truck..paid for..i have a house..mortgage..no cable..netflix…q helps a whole lot she needs to reevaluate how she is doing her couponing…i have a degree that has still not landed me a job to get off of assistance…every little bit helps but we are not all lazy and waiting on the government and i have never lied because it is too hard to keep up and my masters will be in social work so i dont want to start being a lier.careful careful if you work at a place that has the potential to help her get assistance help her get assistasnce. her pride is hurting her and her children and pride hurts. did i mention i am single with three kids. we need to help those who dont realize they need help. also RAINCHECKS…RAIN CHECKS….RAIN CHECKS!!!!!!!!!!!

I totally agree. I'm honest and I work. What the heck is Haylee talking about. I just graduated graduate school in May and still cannot find full-time work. It's what a lot of Americans are going through these days. The $80 a month really does help my son and I. I also clip coupons out of my one Sunday paper every week and am a happy camper with the deals I can get.

Oh yeah I went There just wants drama.

          • Sabrena

i agree grad school means nothing if there is no job when your done…we all are on assistance until we no longer need it. i am in the same boat waiting on my ship to come in.

    • Sorry my comment posted twice

    • The Wonderer

Unfortunately couponing is not for everyone. It take time and money to get these “unbelievable” deals. Whether we are shopping for several households, families or for the “end of the world”. Why is it such a shock to everyone that people are cheating, lying and stealing. Some people see couponing as a game and the result they want is to WIN!!!. Merchants are reading these blogs just like you and I and are making changes accordingly. Coupons values are decreasing and policies are changing. Soon we'll all be back to bartering so watch out for the lying, cheating and stealing then too. We can all thank “Extreme Couponing” for this one, now so many people want to be one!!

I see that HT Express Lane is going to be conveniently down from 12am to 6am Tuesday.  They don't want us prepared!

    • Oh Yeah I Went There

It's not always shelf clearers behind the empty shelves at HT or any store for that matter.  Frank's Red Hot for example during triples…it was myself and one other lady at the store at 6am, there were only 4 on the shelf.  There went all the Frank's.  HT figured out all the items that were free during triples and never restocked them again until the day AFTER triples ended.  And frankly, not to sound rude, but I'm not going to feel bad about couponing because there's people out there with kids they can't afford…if the shelves are empty you aren't suffering and the world isn't coming to an end because you desperately needed the Frank's red hot for your starving family.  If you need Frank's red hot so bad, go to Walmart and buy it.  Just because HT runs out doesn't mean the world has run dry of Frank's.  If you truly have no money, get on welfare, then all your stuff is free and I'll see you with every other person on welfare buying birthday cakes and brand name soda in glass bottles and candy bars at Walmart on the 1st.  A store is first come first served.  Whether you are buying 5 of an item to feed your family of 12, feed a troop overseas or for your church picnic…you don't have to answer to anyone.  Show up on time, when the sale starts, and then you get your stuff.  No different than black friday.

      • I don't see this as the problem that people are complaining about. It is one thing to go to the store and there only be a few of something, and it is gone with the first or second person. I do not want to speak for everyone on the blog here, so I am just going to clarify the reason for my post from earlier.
I was refering to the comments on here about people having several different cards and clearing a shelf that would cover Several people to have the limit of each. This is the reaason there is a limit set. And I was also responding to someone saying that when people use multiple HT card and clear the shelf that it is not hurting anyone, but truth is that it does.
I see these people and have never really thought about them using several cards to get that many. I coupon to save money for other thing. But some people do coupon because they have to.

        • Oh Yeah I Went There

I definitely agree that people shouldn't be trying to use more than one card.  I wish Walgreens would try to incorporate a rewards card program.  I have always done just fine being limited to the number of coupons that can be doubled at stores, so I never mind when they put limits on things.  If more is needed, HT sales run the whole week, so you can always go back.

          • liza

Lately with everyone couponing and the stores not getting enough stock so items are running out in the first hour or so–as far as your comment “you can always go back”–try seeing how easy it is to go back multiple times when you have small children to care for.

      • Cherry

Wow, please don't judge us for receiving food stamps. I don't judge you. I don't buy name brand soda (actually no sodas at all) nor candy bars at all. If the item is gone, it's gone. I would just buy HT brand hot sauce if I wanted it that much. You say your not trying to sound rude ……… Yeah right.

        • Customernotalwaysright

get off the governemnt assisance and get a job

      • Deb

My thoughts exactly, Black Friday every super doubles.  So the idea is to just get you in the store.  If your item is out of stock you're likely to choose a substitute.  That's Marketing 101 folks:)

    • Aclopez88

Yall all can sit here and argue about what is fair and not fair but what good is it gonna do? If you want the stuff on the shelves….go at 7 am when the sale starts!

    • TK

I just want to say you all need to chill out and relax!  Stop judging others and be thankful for what we have.  There will always be people out there who cheat systems or take advantage of things.  Please stop using this comment section to fight about welfare and peoples lifestyles.  Jenny works hard each week to provide great information and we should respect her and this amazing website!

      • shanna

        well said TK!  gwhiz!

    • hawkswifey

ok so new to couponing. so they double 20 coupons and then can you still use coupons? or is it they super double 20 and then countinue to double the smaller ones? help plz lol

      • JL

They will double(super dbl) up to 20 coupons a day. After 20 all coupons will be at face value. They take 3 like coupons and some HT will not take coupons that say DND. My HT will not so check wih cutomer service before. Good luck

      • Deb

HT will double 20 coupons a day whether it's super double or not.
You may use as many coupons you'd like but I'd advise you to use 20 per day but use them wisely…which ones would you rather double?  Use those first.

    • Bchere

forget the welfare/shelf cleaners debate…i want to know why people at the mt pleasant HT feel like the “Fire Zone–No Parking” sign applies to everyone BUT them? there's always 2 or 3 cars parked there in the Fire Zone…. drives me batty. i dont care if youre “just running into the Redbox”–park your car in a parking space (like eveyone else who can read and doesnt think rules just dont apply to them)

I have read all these ridiculous posts that are not helping anyone. HT is a business that knows the game. They believe if they lure you in there with the potential of a free item you will buy something else. HT is about 45 min away from me. I dont like going there and finding the shelves empty. i just get a raincheck. i get one everytime i go in the store to an empty shelf. and i get them to write the current price on it. ex they had bounty 4.77 evic one week three weeks later 6.77 i had the 4.77 raincheck and got it for that price and i found a better q for it. they play the game you just play theri game and to Haylee tell your friend to get as much rainchecks as she can on empty shelves and she will come out better and be able to get a product when she has the money for it.q ing has gotten worse since the show but what most people dont undrstnd it that theat show is a show that crap is almost impossible to do on every shopping trip. if you worship this site like others do you will always find a excellent deal….free items and nearly free items…shoot the less than a 1..one fro example…and she may need to read some of these postings because these help out a lot too..and if she has no service..libraries are free for an hour at a time..and some colleges and workplaces have places fro people to surf the internet as long as its reputible sites…THanks Jenny and Family for all you do!!!!!!!!!

    • Scaracappa

At 6:30 the hoarders are waiting at the door to clean out the shelves. One problem I have is that HT, among others, are not prepared to restock quickly. Happy to save. People still think they can get 5,000 worth of food for 1.98. With 20 coups, they must be some hellacious coups

      • Cruxius

Yeah, it's starting to become a bad experience going to HT on Super Doubles week.

      • guest

I suspect most of these shoppers are waiting to purchase 3 like items, per the store policy, and not to clean out the shelves. I know of no one who thinks as you say they do. I do know many people who have determined that in order to get the best use of 20 coupons on Wednesday they need to be at the store early, and are willing to do so.

    • Nellbell37

People watch Extreme Couponing and think they can come in here and do that crap. Retailers do not know what manufacturer coupons are out there. Thats why restocking on coupon items takes time.
