For the past several years, I have been a volunteer at a non-profit equine therapy facility in a very poor rural area. We serve everyone who comes to us in need (regardless of their ability to pay for services), and nearly all our riders live below the poverty line.

I am designing and building a “sensory trail” on the property for the autistic/sensory processing riders to benefit from. The stations along the trail are most beneficial when they are very colorful and stimulating to the senses, and Michael’s carries fantastic products and tools that would make my project come to life in a beautiful way. However, I am working out of my own pocket, and as a new schoolteacher, I have very limited personal funds. Just $50 could help make this new sensory trail much more stimulating for our riders by adding color and vibrancy.

I plan to do it every year until he is grown. I think it’s going to be fun to watch and see how the foot prints get larger as they go…
I think this is a great summer activity for children to do and I’m sure kids will be so proud to show off their stone. They have lots of stones to choose from. I’ve got my eye on a glow in the dark step stone for this year!

The kids can help arrange the pictures in the frames also, so we would have fun just putting it together for him. We may even have some $ left over to try the shell craft you posted about last month…..hopefully!!
