It’s springtime and I’d decorate every corner of the house with beautiful fresh flowers if I could.

I walked by the flower department at the grocery store last week, and realized that you could really spend a fortune on fresh flowers if you aren’t careful. With Mother’s Day and Wedding Season quickly approaching, there are lots of reasons to look at cutting costs on flowers.

So, let’s talk about how we can save on flower arrangements!

The Nester over at Nesting Place did an entire series about using plants around the house and this picture really hit home for me.  Both the rooms above are beautiful, but the one on the left just feels a little stiff, and right one feels so much happier! What a difference a little fresh greenery makes.

The only reason my house isn’t filled with blooms is that live plants can be expensive and they just don’t last long!  Y’all know I always have a few frugal tips to share, so here are a few to save money on fresh flowers.

How to Save on Fresh Flowers

1.  Make your own floral arrangements.

If you’re on Pinterest you might have seen some ideas where you can either use floral tape or Scotch tape to make a grid to hold your flowers in just about any container.  Martha Stewart says to put 1-2 flowers in each square and fill in with the greenery pieces at the end.

I took my girls outside and we walked around our property looking for anything blooming. If you are pressed for time or don’t have a green thumb, picking up a simple bouquet from the grocery store for $5-$10 will also work.  You’re still saving a ton of money by not going to a florist for a simple arrangement.

Another great DIY option that will work for your house, your wedding, or even a tea party:

We’ve seen deals on Apple AirTags and Samsung Galaxy SmartTags for years and I’ve always pondered why exactly a person would want a 4-pack of them…

Watching the news last Christmas of insane amounts lost luggage with the Southwest melt down I realized there was something to these tiny little trackers!!

How Do AirTags & SmartTags Work

First let me briefly explain the technology behind AirTags and SmartTags for those who are not familiar with it. The Tags are meant to help you keep track of your things – keys, devices & valuables. Each tag sends a Bluetooth signal that can be detected by ANY nearby device within the same network.  Not just your personal devices, but any Apple or Samsung device!  Each time a device finds your tag, you’ll get update on its location on a map.

So basically, everyone on the network can help each other locate lost items. None of your personal information is stored within the tag itself and individual location is encrypted to protect your anonymity. You can also emit a sound from any tag to locate it if it’s nearby.

Note that because Apple AirTags and Samsung Galaxy SmartTags run on Bluetooth technology rather than GPS, they are not considered the most useful devices for keeping track of people, pets, moving vehicles, etc. Anything that actively moves is best located via GPS technology. Tags are best used for locating items that are not in motion. Also note that they are not waterproof, so if you are attaching tags to washable items, please remember to remove them prior to washing.

So now that you know how they work and what they are not best used for, let’s discuss some of the ways AirTags and SmartTags can be useful.

Also, in case this list makes you super eager to AirTag everything, you have a limit of 16 AirTags that can be attached to one Apple ID.  That should be plenty, but know there is technically a limit…

Great Uses for AirTags and SmartTags

Find Your Lost Keys or Wallet

This is perhaps the most obvious use. Attach a tag to your keys and wallet and never worry about losing them again! Just have the app emit a noise through the tag to help you locate it.

One of the best purchases we’ve made was a clearance above ground pool!  While you won’t find clearance deals in May, there are still some great prices right now that would let you enjoy swimming all summer long!!

These pools all come with a filter, and are pretty much ready to plug in, fill up and swim.  You’ll need to have a level place to set it up but that’s it.  For durability, if it helps you have an idea, we are going on our 5th summer with the same Intex above ground pool.  We don’t take it down or do anything to it during the winter.

As you decide on pool size, the depth is really the most important part to having fun.  Consider the age of your kids and ponder getting at least the 42 inch depth if you can afford it.

Trying to maintain a keto diet, but miss fried chicken? This keto fried chicken recipe will help and it’s delicious!

You’ll use pork rinds as the breading instead of the traditional white flour mixture.

                  Easy Keto Fried Chicken Recipe

                  Ingredients

                  • 1 bag of your favorite pork rinds
                  • salt and pepper
                  • 1 tsp dried basil
                  • 1 tsp dried thyme
                  • 1 tsp dried oregano
                  • 2 tsp garlic powder
                  • 1 tsp paprika
                  • 3 eggs
                  • 2 lbs chicken tenderloins
                  • 1-2 cups of oil (use an oil that can take high heat, like avocado oil), enough to be about 1" deep in your skillet

                  Directions

                  1. Use a food processor to grind the pork rinds into crumbs. If you don't have a food processor, you can use a resealable bag and a rolling pin to crush them.
                  2. In a wide, shallow dish, stir together the pork rind crumbs and the salt and pepper, basil, thyme, oregano, garlic powder, and paprika.
                  3. Add the eggs to a separate bowl and whisk.
                  4. Lay the chicken tenderloins out on plastic wrap and cover with another layer. Pound the chicken until it's all one even layer.
                  5. Dip the chicken tenders in the egg and then dredge in the pork rinds, making sure the chicken is fully and evenly coated (press the chicken as you go to make sure the rinds stick).
                  6. Add the oil into a large skillet over medium-high heat until the oil reaches 350 degrees.
                  7. Working in batches (so you don't overcrowd the pan and so the oil temperature doesn't drop too much), add the chicken and fry until golden brown, about 4-5 minutes. Flip and continue cooking on the other side for another 3-4 minutes, until golden brown and the internal temperature reaches 165 degrees.
                  8. Carefully transfer the cooked chicken to a cooling rack or a plate lined with paper towels.
