July is an exciting time during the summer where cookouts and fireworks are in full swing! While there are some great things to buy in July, including laptops, gym memberships, air conditioning units and more, there are certain items that would be best to wait on.
We do have some big sale events this month like July 4th sales, Prime Week July 8th-11th and Walmart Deals July 7th-13th. I would definitely shop for things you need right now, but the following are things to really ponder on because there is a good change the price will go lower:
10 Things to Never Buy in July

Televisions
July doesn’t tend to be the best month for TVs, so save that for November and January during holiday sales, if you can wait. Yes we will see some discounts for Prime Week and the matching Walmart and Target sales, but still see lower prices closer to the holidays.

Large Appliances
You will be able to find some great Fourth of July sales up to 45% off, but beyond that appliances aren’t typically a good buy during this time. Manufacturers also release new models and stores drop prices the most to move older products in September and October typically. So ideally, if you can wait until the next 3-day sale, Labor Day weekend, you get to put big discounts together with the stores trying to get older models out!
See 16 ways to save on appliances.

Grills
If you can wait, grills tend to go on sale at the end of the season during late summer and early fall. When the stores need to make room for Christmas things they try to get rid of all their grills at great prices! Grabbing one right now “on sale” is really more like grabbing it at the regular always marked down price.

Sunglasses
It might be hot or bright outside, but these items can be bought for the best deals in September and towards the end of the year with Christmas sales.

Patio Furniture
We are starting to see some clearance sales on sets and accessories, however these sales will get bigger. Aim for waiting till the end of August beginning of September for the largest discounts. Also be watching online and locally at Lowes, Home Depot, Target, and Walmart.

Fruit: Apples & Citrus
There is plenty of produce in season to fill your cart, but if you add these items you’ll pay top dollar. They are far out of season which means they are very expensive. Stick with summer vegetables, watermelon, peaches, and berries in July.

Beach & Pool Gear
While we will see great swimsuits and towel sales this month, you want to avoid anything that is clearly labeled for the pool or beach. Wait to buy any beach chairs, tents, toys, etc. These are items you want to get after the season ends or right as it’s starting in the spring.

Apple Products
The summer back to school sales are a good time for a deal on a new laptop, but this year hold off on getting a few specific Apple products until September. We see Apple launch new products every Spring and Fall around their World Expo events.
Expected new Apple products for the fall of 2025 are the Apple iPhone 17 and new Apple Watch 11. They will also be refreshing the Apple Watch SE.

Automobiles
Cars and trucks are yet another item that is very close to new models dropping. Even if you are looking for a used car (which you should be) you’ll still find larger discounts after September. All new models drop in early September meaning every older model gets shifted down in price another tiny bit. You’ll find dealerships trying to clear their lots of older brand new models too. See more tips on saving on used cars.
Summer Clothes
The best deals on warm weather apparel are yet to come. We are seeing sales, and you may want to grab a few things just know that the end of summer clearance doesn’t get going strong until August. If you decide to buy now, at least don’t get anything full price!!

It sounds fancy, but it’s not! A galette is basically a free-form, open pie that doesn’t require perfection. It makes for a great dessert when you’re wanting pie, but don’t have pie time.
This peach galette recipe is perfect for using your in-season peaches. Make your own pie crust or use a store bought one.

Ingredients
- 2 cups pitted and sliced peaches (2-4 peaches) (1/2 inch slices and you can leave the skins on)
- 1 1/2 tsp cornstarch
- pinch of salt
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1 pie crust (homemade or store bought)
- flour for dusting
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- sugar for sprinkling, about 2 tsp
Directions
- Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.
- In a mixing bowl, gently toss together the sliced peaches, cornstarch, salt, and 1 tsp sugar. Set aside.
- On a lightly floured surface, roll the pie crust out to a 12" diameter. Gently transfer the rolled out pie crust to a lined baking sheet (with parchment or a silicone baking mat).
- Arrange the peach slices in the center of the pie crust in a circle (you can even just scoop the peaches into the center; arrange however you like!).
- Fold the outside of the pie crust toward the center (I folded a small section and then moved onto the next section, folding that part over the previous section).
- Brush the top of the folded pie crust with the beaten egg and then sprinkle sugar over the top of the crust.
- Bake for 35-45 minutes or until the crust is golden brown. Allow to rest for at least 15 minutes before slicing and serving.
