If you desire for your children to learn scripture, you can start early! With a little prompting, even my 2 year old can recite a few verses. Children are capable of learning so much and here are some great FREE Scripture memorization tools to help you enable them.
Keep in mind that different children learn different ways. While one child may love singing verses another may learn more from adding motions. It’s important to provide a variety of different experiences because your kids are different. What works for my 12 year old may not work for my 10 year old.
I have learned that starting small, a ton of repetition, and being expressive go a long way in helping children learn. You can start with a verse each week. Write it on your walls, sings songs, play games, color it, and more. Here are some free resources to make it easier for everyone involved.
Games
Draw Your Sword – Ages 6 and up
Race to look up select Bible verses or race to recite verses
A fun game to set up outside for kinetic learners
Clothespin Books of the Bible Game
Write books of the Bible on clothespins and mix them up. Then have the child put them in order on a clothes hanger.
Write (or have your child write) the verse out on 3 or more craft sticks. Then mix then up & put back in order.
Cut up a pool noodle and attach a word with masking tape to each layer.
Use scotch tape to put verse on blocks. Have the children build the verse.
