I haven’t shared in the last two weeks because I was in a scary place for dieters. Two weeks away from my scale and one of those weeks in a land of all you can eat and midnight dessert buffets… yeah. I’ll confess that I didn’t really watch what I ate that week. Why? You ask. Because I didn’t want to. Food is a joy to me. Normally my over eating isn’t because I’m depressed and sitting in a dark closet, it’s because that’s a way that my family spends time together and we love to enjoy meals.
I wanted to splurge and enjoy everything new and different and not feel left out. Really if I had tried going the left out way I would have gotten back and eaten half the pantry. I’ve learned that about myself. I tend to gorge myself after trying to avoid too much of what I can’t have…
So, now that I’m back into my routine I have a little bit of catch up to do. Not too much but that’s what should be expected after two weeks with no real exercise and no calorie counting. The main lesson here is that you can’t quit because of a long break, you keep going!
I gained two pounds while I was gone. Not as bad as dessert after every meal could have been…
My first goal, lose those two pounds this week as we get home and back into our routines! I’ve already gotten one workout in and hope to continue towards 5 this week (someone might have to help me walk by the end of the week). I’m also back to counting calories and tracking meals. It’s a good place to be for accountability and results.
I won’t lie though, the two weeks were blissful. I’m kinda glad though that I did gain a little weight so that I can remember the consequences…

Happy National Child Passenger Safety Week!
I know you probably didn’t bake a cake in celebration, and you also forgot to mark it on your calendar… this is an important week though that shouldn’t be forgotten.
The goal for child passenger safety is to make sure all parents and caregivers are correctly using the right restraint (rear-facing car seat, forward-facing car seat, belt-positioning booster seat or vehicle seat belt) for their children’s ages and sizes. Many areas across the U.S. will be hosting events where Certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians will provide education on how to use and install car seats, booster seats and seat belts for children.
According to the U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), 59 percent of car seats are misused or not properly installed. Odds are many of us fall into that statistic… I know you are thinking it’s just a short trip to the grocery store, or “they are just fine”. But the 5 minutes it would take to get it done properly are well worth it compared to the lifetime wishing you had…
We aren’t going to go into the painful numbers, but I have no doubt we all know someone that lost a little one in a car accident.
To stay on the happy side of things this week, I want you to make an effort to find and visit a car seat safety check this week. I’ll be at one in the Fort Mill SC area that Britax is hosting at their headquarters this Friday from 9 am to 11:30 am.
