We’ve been talking about local produce and CSA’s- ways to find great, organic produce for a good price. Now, we’re going to talk about the cheapest way to get the best organic produce – gardening! There is a saying that “growing your own food is like growing your own money.” We’ve been trying to grow a garden for a few years now. Let me start by saying…it should have worked. We talk about organic food, but let’s learn more about organic gardening soil!
Two years ago, my husband and I became incredibly motivated and excited about starting our vegetable garden. We cleared land. We built raised beds. We spent too much money on the “perfect” soil blend. (see below)

I’ve been taking the Applebee’s Lunch Combo Challenge for a month to test out their new lunch combo menu and I’m here to report back about it! I tried 4 additional lunch combos:

On my last one, I splurged a whole $1 and got a delicious, warm Brownie Bite (with ice cream) with my lunch combo.

Overall I was very pleased with my lunches. They were all very filling and easy on the wallet. I loved the Mac & Cheese – add a salad and I think it’s the perfect lunch portions and delicious. Service was great and friendly even with our family of 6 at lunchtime. If you don’t get a long lunch break at work, I suggest you use their Curbside To-Go and pick up a lunch treat. I highly recommend spending the extra $1 for the Brownie Bite.
If you’re gluten-free, plan on ordering from the regular menu as the Lunch Combo Menu doesn’t include any gluten-free options.
