Sometimes I get stuck in a gift-buying rut and my gifts end up always being the a lot of the same without a ton of personality behind them. This year we are searching for a few things more unique. One website that website that is the best for unique gifts is Novica. Novica is in association with National Geographic, a name we all know for teaching us about marvelous places and people. At Novica you can buy all kinds of things made from people all around the world.
I love that for gifts, their products are things I could never find in a local store. If anything our family will think we traveled the world to get them something, though they know we never go farther than our mini-van can take us. I also love that when we buy items, they are really helping artists all over the world. They don’t charge artists for posting items on their website and the artists remain fully independent.
I found this pair of handmade earrings for just $15.29 and I loved the story of the woman who made them. think that knowing the story behind the person who made the gift is so much more personal than buying something you think they’ll buy from a store (even though I’ll be happy with that, too).
Actually while wrting this I found something my husband would love, and had to stop and buy it right then. I would post a picture… but then he would know what he was getting for Christmas. So if I had more to spend here is something else he would get:
When I’m on Novica’s site, I’m always drawn to their hammocks. They always look so comfortable and local to fun areas of the world! Keep an eye out too, they have a great daily deal every day. Just be ready, because most days they sell out.
$10 off Your Purchase
To save a little extra money while you’re shopping at Novica, they have a $10 off with the code GOSERVER2012 until the end of today (11/16) only. Also, many of their gifts qualify for free shipping! You can also earn more money off when you refer friends. You’ll get $10 in credit if they make a purchase and they will earn $10 off their purchase! One more promotion: new customers save $7 with their first purchase!

Hi! I’m Bethany from the kid lit and play blog No Twiddle Twaddle. Almost every day, I write a list of the best free kids’ eBooks available on Amazon. I even read many of the books, so that I can exclude books with poor grammar and formatting problems. I’m so excited that Jenny is letting me share today’s free eBook list on Southern Savers!
Download the books today since they may only be free for a couple of hours and remember to check all prices before downloading. If you don’t own a Kindle, you can still download these books and read them using the free Kindle app.
My favorite free kids’ eBooks available today are:
I’m always excited to see artist Dianne Miller’s picture books. She originally wrote her Little Bunny series for her children. Today, she has three books that you can download for free: Watch Me, One to Ten, and Don’t Go. These books are simple and perfect for young preschoolers.
One to Ten – This cute counting book not only goes up to ten, but also counts backwards to one.
Watch Me – Little Bunny learns that mothers always love their children even when busy.
Don’t Go – Preschool can be scary, but Little Bunny also finds out that preschool is fun.
You can download Little Bunny coloring pages and free printables on Dianne Miller’s blog.
Parents of older preschoolers should check out The Library Mouse by popular author Stephanie Lisa Tara. The poem about a mouse’s literary adventures in the library after hours might be difficult for kids to understand, but the illustrations and Tara’s gift of verse make this book worth downloading.
I don’t have time to read through many of the children’s novels that appear for free, but I have read The Bewitching of Alison Allbright and parts of others of British author Alan Davidson’s novels. These novels were originally published in the late 70s through 80s and are now being released by Straw Hat Publishing in eBook format.
A Friend like Annabel – This book is the first in a humorous series about two friends’ adventures at school. I’ve read the first few chapters, and the distinct British humor had me laughing out loud.
The Bewitching of Alison Allbright – I consider this to be one of the better books that I have read recently. The plot was intricate and surprising while teaching lessons about selfishness and pride. I highly recommend this book for middle-graders through adults.
Marina in a Green Dress – A mystery similar to The Bewitching of Alison Allbright
If have elementary-grade children, be sure to check out The Story Shell by Christian author Gloria Repp today. I remember reading Repp’s children’s book as a kid and enjoying them. Her books also have excellent illustrations peppered throughout by Jim Davis. Parents and educators can download discussion questions on Gloria Repp’s website.
These books are only some of the great books that I have found today, you can find the rest of today’s recommended free kids’ eBooks on my Amazon Listamania list:
If you enjoyed today’s list, I would love for you to check out my free kids’ eBook lists and picture book reviews on No Twiddle Twaddle. You can also find me on Facebook.
