At the beginning of November I was invited to visit the Smucker’s headquarters and learn a little more about them. I was actually one of the few bloggers that wasn’t a “foodie” but it was great to get my hands dirty in the kitchen and have fun making new things. The video above is just one of the cool things that the folks at Smucker’s taught me – like how to make ice cream without the ice cream maker (see recipe)! I also made my first real pie crust (yes make fun) which turned out great.
I think actually you’d be amazed to see what brands are actually made by Smucker’s, it’s not just jams and jelly! To name just a few: Jif, Millstone, Dunkin Donuts, Hungry Jack, Crisco, White Lily, Martha White, Pillsbury (baking aisle)… and many more. The most fun part of the trip was learning what you can make with some of these products. They have amazing test kitchen that dreams up the most tasty recipes. My favorite was their cookie starter mix that you mix up and then keep in the fridge or freezer. It can make over 30 different cookies with one core base starter!
One other favorite part of the trip was realizing that there are more products out there than our stores sell. My new favorite spread is Smucker’s Orchards Finest triple berry!! Sadly this isn’t sold in any of our stores, but I can at least be a happier person having tasted it and knowing it’s out there.
