Going Nuts? I can help you understand coupon terms and abbreviations

Most children love fun school supplies. If you give them fun writing tools and paper they are willing to write way more than they are with just pencils, and if fun school supplies can get my children more involved in learning, I’m all for that.

Carolina Pad is a great company that is the industry leader in fashion school supplies. Their products have been featured on TV including Glee, and One Tree Hill. They have different brands and collections as well as a wide range of products.

The recently sent a box of all their latest products for us to play with.  My girls instantly fell in love with the beautiful binders and journals.  I loved the accordion file folder and was thrilled to move my coupon stash into something fashionable!

They offer not only school supplies, but office supplies which include things like binders, planners, organization, writing tools, desk accessories and more. They also have a super cute line of bags and totes which includes everyday totes, clutches, and laptop bags. They also have arts & crafts with things like posterboard, foam and display boards, art pads, kids’ art and activities, and memories. All of their products are designed to let you express your style through the supplies you use. This company is great for having fun, fashionable versions of typical items.

You can buy Carolina Pad products online or in store. Products are available at Target, Walmart, Walgreens, CVS and other retailers. The complete list is here.

    • I hope you all get as excited as I do when the word “Bash” starts coming up on the Southern Savers homepage.  After lots of behind the scenes work, the Win Giveaways team is back to present a Spring Bash filled with tons of ways to get your home clean and organized!

Starting Monday, March 21st, a whole new group of cleaning and organization related giveaways will be flooding Southern Savers and 10 other blogs, giving you the best chance to win.

This time around the top sponsor for the Bash is Dave Ramsey!  For the few of you who don’t know who he is, Dave Ramsey has been one of the leading personal financial advisers in the country for several years.  Having met him in person, I can tell you that his radio show is not an act: he is a normal, level-headed guy (with a lot of smarts in the finances department).

Make sure you come by Southern Savers every day next week to enter to win some of our amazing giveaways, including a prize pack from Dave Ramsey himself!

              week10

The traditional St. Patty’s meal of Corned Beef & Cabbage while tasty, it isn’t really waistline friendly.  Corned beef is a brisket, typically a fattier cut of meat and its also salted.

To eliminate some of the fat & salt in cooking, you can boil it in water & change the water midway through cooking. Throwing in a few potatoes will also extract some of the salt (just don’t add them to the meal).

Alternatively, you can roast it on a rack in the oven allowing the fat to drip away during cooking. Be sure to look for lean, low sodium cuts of corn beef when you’re shopping and trim all fat before cooking. And of course, watching your portion size is important when enjoying corned beef.
