how to remove scratches from wood using only a walnut

I had a surface scratch on a dresser and some walnuts on hand so I decided to try it.  To my surprise… it worked to remove scratches from wood!

-Break off a small piece of a walnut.
-Rub it into the surface scratch.
-Wipe away any excess oil.

If you try this on a deep gash of wood, I don’t think it will work.  But if it’s a light scratch that has only taken off a bit of the surface color, the oil from the walnut helps blend the scratch into the rest of the wood.

We made a bar for the grandchildren in our kitchen. We used a $5 table from a thrift store that I really thought I would have to paint. I rubbed it down with some mayonnaise that we did not like and then buffed it off. It came out so beautiful that it looks like I refinished it!

Mommalana — I want to try it, wow, I love the idea especially since mayo is always left in our home
and I do not like throwing it away

Olive oil/vinegar works wonders as well.

I heard Mayo does the trick also!
