Looking for a weekend getaway idea? I asked our readers about their favorite weekend getaway spots and here are some that were mentioned and what people had to say about them! Check out this list to get ideas for your next getaway.
Helen, Georgia– A cute Alpine/Germany themed town. A lot to do and beautiful scenery! There are wonderful restaurants and candy stores and also options for hiking nearby.

Ocean Springs, MS or Dauphin Island, AL – Both are small beach towns with cute shops and restaurants. They are not over-commercialized and therefore not over-crowded. (Which is great if you have little kids or just want a quiet weekend with your spouse/partner.) You can usually find a cottage or beach house that’s fairly affordable on VRBO or Airbnb.

My husband and I visited Greenville, SC for a quick getaway and loved it! We stayed within walking distance to the park and shopping/restaurants. Downtown is absolutely beautiful and close to nature.
Savannah, Georgia – Lots to do and good places to eat! Savannah has so many different aspects to enjoy – architecture, history, horticulture, ghost stories, and of course, loads of Southern charm.

Hermann, Missouri – Tucked in the rolling vineyards of the Missouri River Valley, wineries are EVERYWHERE here!

Ormond Beach, Florida – A much less crowded, more serene version of its neighbor, Daytona Beach!

Big Lynn Lodge or Switzerland Inn in Little Switzerland NC, which has many cute shops, a big bookstore, and a mineral museum!

Pigeon Forge is a good place to see shows, visit big attractions, enjoy window shopping, or choose from many restaurant options. It’s very popular, so not as quiet, but definitely some people’s vibe if you want a big-city feel while staying among picturesque mountains.

Amelia Island is known for pristine nature and uncrowded beaches. It offers world-class golf, spas and restaurants, plus a rich history! The sunrises here are beautiful.

Jekyll Island, Georgia– Enjoy the Georgia Sea Turtle Center, golfing, kayaking and so much more. I loved all the sand dollars you can find on the beach here as a kid!

Asheville – Check out the food, the colorful urban culture, the unmatched grandeur of Biltmore, and breathtaking views.
