verizon smart rewards

I learned something fun from a reader last weekend! Verizon has a rewards program called Smart Rewards. You can earn points and use them for fun items and coupons.

When you register, you’ll earn 10,000 points and you’ll get extra points for every year you’ve been with Verizon. After you register, you’ll earn points when you pay your bill, going paperless, and setting up Auto Pay.

In my opinion, the best offers were the local ones. There are coupons for restaurants, entertainment, and more. You’ll use a few hundred to a few thousand points to get a coupon. The better the coupon, the more points required.

You can also get gift cards, 40% off brand names, and more. Some of the items even have a low price guarantee.

Now, if you aren’t currently a Verizon customer, this probably isn’t amazing enough to get you to switch carriers. If you are already a Verizon customer, be sure you are signed up!

Most of the rewards aren’t that great. We have over 100k points. The gift cards are worthless. They offer you a $100 gift card for $90 plus 1000 points. The merchandise discounts are not great either. You can do better with Ebates and coupon codes. The best deals are the deal of the day, usually free ringtone giftcard or 50% or more off off accessories or other merchandise or sometimes free magazine subscriptions, and the car rental discounts. You can get up to 50% off by using anywhere from 2500-5000 points per rental day. And you can get free upgrades.

They require you to agree to:

We ask you permission to use information about your use of Verizon
products and services, the websites you visit and apps you use, as well
as your device and its location.
We may also use other information like age range, shopping
preferences and information about the quantity, type, destination,
location, and amount of use of your Verizon
telecommunications and interconnected voice over internet services
      (known as CPNI).
