In recent months, Walmart has been developing its Walmart Cash program. Now that it is growing in popularity, let me give you a quick overview of how the program works.

What is Walmart Cash?

Walmart Cash is essentially Walmart’s way of offering digital coupons via rebate. These are Manufacturer Offers sourced by Ibotta. Just like you would receive cash back with Ibotta for saving an offer before you shop, you will be credited cash back to your Walmart account to use on a future purchase.

Note that you cannot earn cash back offers for the same items via both Walmart.com and Ibotta. Choosing the Walmart Cash offer will prevent you from earning the Ibotta offer for that same item. The same goes for paper coupons. You must pick one or the other because they are both manufacturer offers.

So why use the Walmart Cash option instead? Well, not only will you save time, but more importantly, Walmart Cash never expires!!

Who can earn Walmart Cash?

Walmart Cash can be earned by any Walmart customer with a Walmart.com account. Note that you do not need to be a Walmart+ member to be eligible for these offers. The additional benefit for Walmart+ members is that they can earn additional Walmart Cash exclusively by booking through the Walmart+ Travel benefit.

How do I earn Walmart Cash?

You can click here to see all the current Walmart Cash offers. To claim your cash back offer, you need to check the box under the product before adding it to your cart.

You can earn Walmart Cash whether shopping online or in-store. If you are shopping in-store, you will need to scan the on-screen QR code at the register or self-checkout to connect your account. If you happen to forget this step, you still have 7 days after your purchase to scan your barcode receipt online or in-app and earn any offers you had clipped beforehand. Walmart will then confirm that you made the purchase and had clipped the offer beforehand.

Any Walmart Cash earned will be credited to your account within 24 hours after you check out in-store and after you pick-up or receive your items for online orders. You may view your balance at any time at the top of your Walmart account.

How can I redeem Walmart Cash?

There are several ways to redeem Walmart Cash once you’ve earned it.

  1. Apply it to a future purchase online or in-store when paying via mobile app (see photo below).
  2. Cash it out online to your ONE debit account (minimum balance of $25 required).
  3. Cash it out in-store at the Walmart Money Center (minimum balance of $25 required).

If you are already shopping at Walmart, there is no reason for you to not grab these extra savings. Remember that Walmart Cash never expires and you can apply it to any future purchase.
