I am still on cloud nine that I pushed through and met my first baby goal of hitting 179 before the beach. To treat myself I splurged in a not so splurgy way and got a spray tan that I mentioned a few weeks ago. Many of you said to go for it, and then a friend emailed to say that we have a cosmetology school in town that does them for $10! I’m all for saving money and that includes signing up to be anyones guinea pig.
For $10 it was a steal! I look and feel great, though currently I’m so tan that I look like my family adopted me (my 11 year old agrees). So for anyone else on the fence I would say go for it this one time. I’m not going to make a habit of it, I just wanted to feel even better about myself in a swimsuit rather than after all my efforts these past few months feeling more discouraged. It’s the discouraging moments for me that lead to pity parties which lead to snacks which leads to ice cream… it’s a tricky slope once you start to slide.
If you are considering a spray tan and are in my area I encourage you to check out South Eastern Esthetics Institute. They do a lot more than tans so it could be your way of getting a super cheap eye brow waxing or even a facial. If you aren’t in Columbia then google and see if you have a school in your area that does something similar.
A few spray tan tips (now that I’m an expert):
• Paint you finger nails and toenails first
• Shower and scrub everywhere with a loofa really hard first. It makes it last a few extra days.
• Wear loose dark clothing in case you get any on it on the way home it won’t stain.
• Put your hair up before you go and wear a cloth headband right near your roots.
• Don’t make plans right after, you can’t shower for 8 hours after it. It gradually gets darker as the day goes on.
• Still wear sunscreen! You have only dyed your skin, not gotten all new genes that don’t burn.
Now that I’ve hit goal #1 it’s onto the next goal which was really my first big goal; get down 170. This doesn’t seem that hard, but I’ve always struggled with not finishing on diets. I’m trying to set new week goals of running more and continuing to track to help me stay on track. The girls and I are also signing up for a race in 4 weeks that we hope to run all of!
Progress this week:
Starting Weight (11 weeks ago): 202
Last Week: 180.8
Current Weight: 179.1
Goal Weight: 170
In case you are wondering 170 has always just been my first big goal. When (not if) I get there the next goal is 155. I don’t think I’ve weighed that since jr. high so it seems very unattainable, but it is the magic number that says I’m in a healthy weight range. So we will go with short little goals to get there and see what 155 looks like 20+ years later!
Thanks for everyone that celebrated last week with me, the winners were: adsmith126@ and carol-y…@ check your email for a note from me so I can ship your prize!
