Weekly Weigh In

This week I finally hit the big 20!  Excuse me while I take a second and do a little dance…

For years I would always think, “Man it would be great to lose weight before ____” but the weeks would go on and I’d make a bunch of excuses with no progress at all.  This year I thought the same thing.  “I would love to lose 20 lbs before we head to the beach.”  For the first time it happened!  I was thinking this week about the fact that it’s been right at 10 weeks.  All these years I’ve put off losing weight, kind of intimidated by it, makes 10 weeks seem so tiny.

My new goal is now being in the 170’s before the beach.  I have 0.8 lbs to go to hit that goal and 1 week… I’ve got this.

Seriously though seeing the numbers fall and the big picture process really does get me motivated.  All of a sudden my will power is super strong and that chocolate cake looks a lot less appealing.  I’m hoping I can ride this as long as possible!

While I’ve hit my first little goal I still have my big goal to work towards.  If you are just tuning in, the goal is two fold.  I want to hit 170 (my first big goal) and I want people to stop asking when the baby is due.  Sorry, the baby was due a year ago…  This week was good no one asked.  I take both goals one day at a time.

Starting Weight (10 weeks ago): 202
Last Week: 185
Current Weight: 180.8
Goal Weight: 170

I lost 4.2 lbs this week, which is a lot, but does prove what effect doubling down my focus on tracking food and exercise can have.  Every time I hit the next digit I say goodbye forever to the old, so here’s to my last week in the 180’s!

I really need to get serious about drinking water! It’s one of the most important thing I can do for myself and it’s so basic. I really should be doing it all the time. Water is easy to come by, cheap/free and all I have to do it drink it. So why don’t I? My goal for this year is to drink at least 64 oz of water per day……let’s not talk about all the other things……water is the starting point.

I’d like to eat well enough to be able to stop taking my blood pressure pills

    • Crystal

I’ve been inspired by your weight loss, I’ve finally decided to be responsible too and just do it. In 6 weeks I have lost 12 lbs. I still have about 12 lbs to go to hit my goal. But tracking food in my fitness pal app is really what helps keep me accountable! Also going to the store and picking up something that is 20 lbs really puts things into perspective.

    • irmolees

I want to lose 15 and about 5% body fat! Been WAY too lazy and uncommitted to tracking and willpower! you are certainly doing a GREAT job!!

    • Athena

My first goal is to get back toy pre-pregancy weight, which is 20 lbs away.

    • Elizabeth

Congrats! Reaching goals is so motivating! I have two weddings this summer helping motivate me. For 2016, my goal is to lose 10% of my weight. It’s easier for me to have a smaller goal. So far I’m down about 70 pounds over 3 years. Having community, support, and others on the journey helps as well.

    • Abby N

I love the My Fitness Pal app and I have been using it for years. My goal this year is to get to a healthy weight and MAINTAIN my healthy weight. I think the maintenance of a healthy weight is almost as hard as losing the weight to begin with. :)

    • skunkie

My goal is to continue to be active and eat healthy. It’s worked for me for 45 years so I’m sticking with it.

    • amy w

I am so glad you had a big weight loss this week. I am at 14.9 lost in 11 weeks. My goal that I set for myself is to lose 42 pounds. Even though I’ve slowed down a bit, I’m happy for even the smallest loss each and every week. I’ve only gone backwards once, the week of Easter. I’ve been heavy for so long, I’m just tired of it. Making the decision to finally do something about it was the hardest part. Wishing everyone great success!

    • Clemsongal106

My goal is to lose 20 pounds before summer vacation :)

    • kalliopielock

    • PJ

I’m going to find twenty minutes a day (some how) to do some yoga and meditation. Working towards being a more relaxed me again

    • Nicole Harris

Great job on the weight loss! My position at work was done away with a month ago, so I have been gaining weight (around 15 pounds!) since I have been at home this month. I just stepped on scales after my jeans were barely fitting and realized it is time to start watching what I eat and how much of it or it will be a stretch pants only wardrobe for me soon:( Time to step it up by eating healthy, drinking more water, and being more active!

    • Angela

I have a goal to lose 15lbs. You are an inspiration!! Keep it up :)

    • Debra

My goal is to lose 35 lbs. for my first goal, and then lose another 10 lbs. so far I have lost 21 lbs. in 10 weeks. I have been using a activity tracker and it motivates me to walk more. I have a job where I walk a lot which is good. I eat more fruit and veggies and I have cut a lot of sugar out as well. I eat granola bars mostly for my sweet cravings.

I have been on the diet roller coaster for years but have been motivated by everything you post here Jenny. But what has motivated me even more was when we went to the beach last week and my 2 yr old went running after a bird and I couldn’t run after him. I panicked. I thought this is ridiculous. My goal is to lose 85 lbs. by next year on our anniversary…May 4. My husband and I are going away just the two of us…we have 6 kids and have not been able to do that in a long time! That’s about 1.5 lbs a week. I can do it! !
