Jenny often lists "FIller" items with in-ad coupons. Does the in-ad walgreens coupon count as a coupon in a transaction? For example, it I have 2 items and I want to use 3 manufacturers coupons, can I throw in a cheap "filler" item that has a in-ad coupon? Hope that makes sense.
  • gingerinCA
Yes, that's exactly right. That should work.
  • kellholl
At Walgreens today I bought 3 boxes of Tylenol cold at 4.99 each, but did not get my $5 RR because it totaled 14.97 and not $15 before tax!?! Based on your scenario, I thought 3 was enough :(
  • gingerinCA
That's right, unfortunately. If you read through the comments above, at least 2 of us mentioned this mistake. Everyone makes them sometimes, even Jenny. :(
I hope you had them void out or refund the transaction, at least!
  • Kenziegirl
WAGs was out of the Dove Mens body wash. They would only give me a Rain check for the sale price 5.99 not the RR. Is this the way it works for rain check items and RR?
  • gingerinCA
It is at my Wags. If they're out of the RR items, you're just out of luck. :(
  • gingerinCA
I had a Wags issue, I hope someone will offer an opinion on. My first and second transactions were fine- Poligrip and Dove Men's, with coupons, got back 2RR and 8RR. Huggies, with coupon and RRs, got back $3RR.
THEN, the problem. Got 6 Garnier- 3 conditioners and 3 style products, used 6 coupons, a 10$ RR and a $3RR, paying $4.95 after tax, but the register didn't print my $10RR from Garnier. After the manager said it was because I MUST be using a 10$RR that I already got from Garnier, and basically calling me a liar twice, until I made the cashier pull out RRs that I used and showed him that it said "Thanks from Pepsi," he voided and re-rang at a different register, and still it didn't print my RR. We checked every item to be sure it was in the ad- it was. Finally, he decided that it wasn't printing my RR because of the 6 1.00 Garnier coupons, because thay say 1 coupon per purchase. I tried to explain that's not the same as 1 per transaction, but he wasn't buying it. So I left the stuff, but I still want that Garnier, and I can't figure out why the RR wouldn't print. Any ideas? I want to try again today, but can't take a huge hassle. BTW, I had my fillers, so lack of filler wasn't an issue.
  • Brooke82
So I went to my local Walgreen's tonight thinking that it would be a bad experience for me like it has been for a few others. I have to admit it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I went to the cosmetics register so that I could use my 15% discount coupon. The cashier used the 15% coupon on all transactions! I was surprised. I purchased 2 packages of Huggies diapers and used (2)$2 off coupons. She scanned a in store coupon for a $1 off for each one of the diapers that I had no clue about. The diapers ended up being $2.99 per pack! This was a great first trip for me and I will definitely be going back for more! Thanks you guys for all of your tips!
  • Jeepgal397
I have only been couponing since October and I have always been leary of using Walgreens but Walgreens has recently won me over this week. I have bought over $120 worth of items this week for only $30 and I also have $15 RR to use for my next run. This to me is worth trying. Walgreens is picky but if you learn their game it makes it worth it. It takes time and I am still learning. But this is great I would have never been able to buy all of this product before for the full prices and now every week. I get a high from just amount I save at Walgreens and CVS alone. This is great but patience is the key!
  • Cindy
In regards to the cashiers, apparently Walgreens is making the cashiers personally responsible for any errors and they have to pay for the errors out of pocket. So it explains why they often have an attitude.
  • Brianne
That must have been why the poor kid was shaking like a leaf when I was going through the line tonight. I was thinking... why doesn't he just scan the coupons and not worry about it???? That explains it!
  • Guest
Good customer service means keeping their attitude in check. That is what is wrong with Walgreens - their rude cashiers.
  • MAC
Sorry, I'm a newbie. But I've seen John Freida Hair products on sale before with the Root Awakenings coupons listed below. So I printed them and went in and they are two completely different products. The Root Awakenings weren't even on sale. So what's the trick here? Why are they listed interchangably? I'm confused.
  • steph
I am in desperate need of help figuring out my transactions!!!! Any help would be so greatly appreciated...

    I want to get:

    Dove men's bodywash
    3 dr. pepper
    vicks nyquill
    gillette fusion razor
    venus embrace
    olay body wash
    garnier hair stuff

how many transactions do I need to maximize the RR's? I have coupons for everything, but am so mathematically challenged!!!! Been going round and round trying to figure out what to buy then what to buy next to save the most!!!

thank you thank you thank you!!!!
  • Holly
I'm new at this, and I have a question. How does B1G1 50% off work? Is it like B1G1F where you can just buy one and get it 50% off. Can you just buy one and get it 25% off, or do you have to get the second item?

When buying a B1g1 at a grocery store they split the price, when buying a b1g1 at a drugstore you actually buy one and get the other free. you would want to get the second item when buying at a drugstore or you lose your free item.

Hi Jenny, I love your site and use it every week now. I have been CVS'ing for a couple of months now and am thinking of branching out to Walgreens now. I read your "guide to Walgreens", but was confused by the need for "filler items". After wading through this weeks comments, I believe I have figured out that you cannot have more coupons than items actually purchased. But you can do the deals as many times as you want, you simply cannot roll the RR's onto the same products. Is this all correct? I just wanted to suggest that you add a little explanation to your Guide to Walgreens explaining the #of coupons/# of items restriction. Thanks so much for all you do, you're awesome!
  • Casey
Bought a dove mens care the other day, and made the fatal mistake of using that RR to try and buy another. I guess that does not work huh? I did not get another reward for $6 back. I am new to this, and as a man, this is extremely difficult to figure out. I have made a dozen or so purchases with coupons in the past month, but have forgotten at least one coupon every time, or used the wrong RR or xtra buck. My wife and son laugh at me, but I bring home bags of stuff from CVS and Walgreens for just a few dollars each week. Thanks for the tips ladies, and of course Jenny. Please consider an all man site with pretty pictures and even simpler instructions. Just kidding. Happy saving everyone!!!
  • Nydia
Way to hang in there and props to you! My husband got ME started on this and we both have learned some hard lessons but just keep at it. Way to go... I know it's hard feeling like the only man here. I used to laugh at my husband for being "the only guy" and now I couldn't be happier that he started doing this!
  • Donna
you can return it and redo the transaction if you want.
  • melanie
I bought the super poligrip ($2.00 get $2.00 RR) and there is a -$1 off coupon inside the box! I'll be getting another! I didn't have the q from the paper mentioned and could not print the printable for some reason.
  • TNT4Always
I have aquestion. I have a catalina from wags for 1.50 off jihn frieda lux. volume,it says is a mq and begins with 5 but I was wondering if this would count as a mq ora store cpn since it says redeem at walgreens? any help would be appreciated thx. oh and 1 mor does bayer make excedrin? I want to use my $10 RR from the contour meter to pay for excedrin
  • gailcope
There are all kinds of MQs that have other stores name or logo on them. They are all still MQs. The Walgreens RR is a MQ.
As long as it starts with a 5 or 9 it is a MQ. You can use Target MQ's at Walgreens or Rite Aid. I use my coupons at Walmart, City Market, Safeway & Alberstons. We don't have a Krogers here - but I heard you can use the RR's there as well.
I would ask before using the RR's at any store you are planning on using them at.
  • gingerinCA
Technically, it is a mfr coupon. But before you try to use it anywhere but Wags, you should probabl ask if they will take it. I only know of 1 store where I am that will take a Catalina with another store's name on it. Don't know about the Excedrin/Bayer question.
  • Lisa
Just wanted to let you know that I just came back from Wlagreens. The manager helped me out because they were a little backed up at the cash registers. I saved about 60% plus earned more register rewards for next time. My biggest expense was the 4 12 packs of coke products. He also let me know that the registers have been ringing up and giving a RR for purchases of the new 3 musketeers bars at .69 each. I purchased three new ones and a regular 3 Musk. bar and received a RR of $1. the truffle 3 Musk. bars are very yummy!!! He was so patient seeing how I am a newbie to this. He even gave me some pointers. They have 2 reg. customers every month that spend $40 for $200 worth. They had good attitudes there.
  • gery220
Ok I am new to all this and I am loving my savings. But jenny how did get the Garnier to be @ 66 cents each???
  • I think Jenny must mean to use 6 coupons, one for each item bought.
  • nanacozzi
The printable coupon for $1 off motrin has ended. Thanks for all you do to help us save money!!!
  • lauriehutchinson
FYI - The Rembrandt Whitener is a great deal. The two hour kit is usually 23.99, in ad coupon is 9.99 and using the printable of $5.00, the kit ends ups being $4.99. My kit had a full-size Rembrandt toothpast in it, too. Awesome!!!!
  • Amanda
I have tried and tried to print the $5 coupon and it never prints! Is there anywhere else I could get it and does anybody know why it wouldn't print? Also do Wags stores have their weekly ad available in store?
  • lauriehutchinson
Not sure about the coupon, but my Wags always has ads in the store just as you walk in.

There is a "Friends and Family" discount coming this Friday, Feb. 12th. You can text it, or should be able to print it online tomorrow. To get it through text, simply text "HEART" to 21525, and you will get a text.
  • frau_sauerkraut
I don't think the Crest Whitestrips are for the same quantity. Could be wrong. I'm a newbie.
  • Kelly
I have had a great three months with Walgreens. Until today, someone help me figure out what happened.
    I bought:
    I fusion razor
    2 kotex pads
    I used:
    $4 off
    $2 off
    $5 RR from Theraflu
    total:
    3.99
then I added a filler .40 and tried to use a $2 RR from Kellogg. It won;t not accept this RR. I did get my two RR from Kotex and P&G from the purchase. Why would the 2 RR not work. The manager told me that I can not use a RR to get a RR. It has been working for three months??/
  • Was your $2 Q the $2/2 Kotex? If so, that may explain it. It would have attached to 2 items, so the 2nd RR would have given you more Q's than items. You added another item and another Q, so you still had more Q's than items. At least, this is what happned to me one time and when I added another filler, it went through.
  • gingerinCA
Wait, really? I thought Wags store Q's were the only ones that attached to 2 items, and since store Qs don't count, I didn't think it mattered. That probably explains why I sometimes have those mystery transactions where you just have to keep adding fillers! That makes sense.
I might go in and buy just the Kotex in one transaction, and see if it lets me use the $2/2 Q plus a RR.
  • The difference here is that the $2/2 Q applied to 2 items (you have to buy 2 to use the Q), leaving nothing for the second RR to be applied to.
  • gingerinCA
Doesn't make any sense to me. What was your filler?
  • Kelly
    I got the 3 Musketeer...
  • gingerinCA
Does the 3 Musketeer require the in-ad Wags coupon? The only thing that makes sense to me is, maybe it was counting the Wags coupon against you-- some people say that their store coupons do count as coupons. They shouldn't, but I can't see any other reason why it would beep your Kellogg RR. Not that I'm an expert-- Wags is so frustrating sometimes!
  • Marie
Went to Walgreens on yesterday, I had a good experience. Here is what I brought:

    (3) John Freida (Awakening) $5.00 each Total $15.00
    (2) Kotex $3.00 each Total $6.00
    (1) Ajax .79 Total .79

Grand Total was $21.79 not including taxes

Used: (1) Coupon for $5.00/2 John Frieda
used: (1) Coupon for $2.00 off John Frieda
Used: (1) Coupon for $2.00/2 Kotex Pads

Grand Total after coupons was $6.00 and some change with out taxes with taxes $8.00 in some change. I also received $5.00 RR and $3.00 RR not bad for a beginner.
  • frustrated
Where is everyone getting the John Frieda coupon $5/2... I can't access that, or the poligrip coupon! This is frustrating as I cant work out any deals without the coupons... and it happens every week I try these scenerios!
  • Marie
I found the John Frieda coupons on Smart Source but could only find the $2.00 coupon for John Frieda Awakening. I could not find the Poligrip coupons either.
  • Jenn
The Sudafed deal did not work for me tonight. They told me it had to be $15 before tax and after coupons. So if you are trying this deal you will have to buy 4 packs in order for it to work according to the way it was explained to me.
  • I was SOOOO happy! One of my RR had expired on Sat and they still allowed it to go thru!! I spent $9.04 and saved $27.48 for a percentage of 75.
I bought 2 Dove+Men bodywash, 2 Swiffer dusting cloths, 1 Dry cloth, 1 wet cloth, 1 Magic Erasor, 1 Mr.Clean, 2 Sure deoderant (raincheck) and 4 gift bags (filler). Used $3 RR, 1.50 Dove Q's, $2 Swiffer cloth coupons, $1 Swiffer dusting Q's, 75 cent Q's for Mr. Clean and Erasor, and 1.50 Sure Q's. Every item had a Q.
I was pleased,as that $9 would have only bought 2 or less of the swiffer at any other store.

  • sundrop474
Went today to get the Schick Quattro. At my fave WAGS there was a $5/2 peelie on the razor itself. bought two for 19.98 - 5.00 - 8.99 rebate - $3 RR (it only prints one RR since I had to buy them in same transaction) = 99 cents for two razors!

Awesome day at WAGS! I even got my RR to roll for the first time ever w/out any beeps!!
  • Dianne
I'd like to know where in the paper that rebate was, too! Thanks.
  • cindy

  • BeverlyB
It's in the Smart Source section of Feb 7th's newspaper. Not everyone received that offer, but I noticed it was in my paper (I'm in Charlotte, NC). Too bad I didn't see it until after my trip to Walgreens today! Now I'll have to head back to Walgreens again later this week.
  • Dianne
I found in in my SS from the AJC!!! Thanks for sharing!
  • wendylaine
where was this rebate i totaly missed it
  • wendylaine
also i just wanted to point out that the phot card says a minimum of 20 per order has anyone gotten away with just buying it as a filler
  • wendylaine
my question is about this sale item
Venus Embrace Razor System or 3 pk Disposable Razors
-$2 off Venus Embrace or Spa Breeze system Razor PG 2/7
Free Olay Body Wash wyb Venus Embrace or Venus Breeze Razor PG 2/7
can you use both of those coupons on your purchase (with fillers of course) and also i have a coupon for -$1 olay body wash will they take $1 off my total for that or not since it is technically free already
  • CJ
You can use one manufacturer's coupon per item purchased. So you could use the $2 Venus coupon for the razor, but for the body wash, you would have to choose either the Free Olay body wash coupon or the $1 off if they are both manufacturer's coupons. You can only stack store coupons along with manufacturer's coupons on the same item.
  • tami
ok, I have a ?... it says Limit 1 coupon per offer below everything you get RR's for...So, I am wondering if I do 2 separate transactions for the Frappucinno *using my $1 off coupons and getting the RR's from them...I planned to buy the men's wash using my coupon and $1RR, and then buy a 2nd mens wash-will it let me apply the RR from the 1st mens wash toward the 2nd mens wash and still get the RR back from the 2nd one?
  • wendylaine
yes you will still get the RR for the second one but you will need a filler item if you are going to use your rr and a coupon it is really just one coupon per item
  • tamika
i called..they said it wont print the 2nd one if i use the RR for the same item to pay for it :(
  • Wags doesn't allow you to "roll" your RR. You can do multiple transaction, but if you want 2+ of the same item, you have to intermix you r transactions. Tonight I bought #1 the bodywash, #2 the swiffer stuff, #3 bodywash, #4 swiffer stuff. This way my RR from one worked on a different product.
CVS allows you to "roll" them over and over w/ no mixing it up.
  • wendylaine
ok so the roll over works on somethings but not on others?
    i guess i shouldn't post an answer unless i'm 100% sure sorry
  • leah9798
I went to Walgreens today to use the RR for the first time. I was very skeptical because of the replies but the cashier was amazing! She even took my coupons and divided my order up herself so I could get the best deal. Also had the body wash behind the register and showed it to me in the flyer that it would be free, so she through that in there too. Very happy experiece!
  • Jen
I am trying to figure out a NyQuil deal, but don't want to buy the "new" NyQuil without the good decongestant in it. Does anyone know how many bottles of behind-the-pharmacy-counter NyQuil you're allowed to buy in TN without being arrested? I know this sounds ridiculous, but I really am being serious!
  • gogogammy
I live in Tn and when I had several of the $5 Sudafed coupons for behind the counter my Wags would only sell me one at a time. I bought one package a week until the coupons expired and they haven't come looking for me yet.
  • Amy
just spent 21.12 and saved 33.83! BUT - at my Walgreens you no longer get RR if you use a manfacutere's coupon on the product...
  • Susannah
Since I can't find th $5/2 john frieda coupon, can I use 3 of the $2 off coupons for 3 products?
  • yes. They are $2/1. So use three of them on three items.
  • Marie
Where is the coupon for the Super Poligrip
  • Vonda
When I go on your Red plum site I can not find the root awaking products from John Freda. I see them listing but not when I go to print. Can you help me?
  • QUESTION, if I do this scenaro

    **Deal Idea**
    Buy: (3) Root Awakening $5
    Use:
    -$5/2 John Frieda printable
    -$2 off John Frieda printable
    Total Due: $8
Get Back: $5 RR, makes it $1 ea
Can I use either a $6 RR I got from Club Crackers(RR says COMB)

    OR

can I juse a $6 RR from Unilever without using a filler item?

Is it one peice of paper use per item?

Like thsi time I would be buying 3 items, using 3 items??

Still trying to figure all this RR.
    Thanks in advance!,,Saving in Dayton!!!
  • I'm pretty sure you can use either RR. You do need to have the same amount of items as you have coupons/RR (pcs. of paper) :-) . IF you are using 3 coupons/Rr, then you need 3 items in your transaction.
  • Virginia
Actually, if the $5/2 coupon is coded correctly, it should attach to 2 items, and the other coupon will attach to 1 item, so you WOULD need a filler in order to use a RR b/c there would be no items left for it to attach to otherwise. Coupons that are $/2 that are coded correctly will actually attach to 2 items in the register.
  • seeker
On the Wet Ones, I have a printed coupon from a few weeks back that is $1.50 off of 1-40ct or higher, so this is a fantastic deal with the RR. Sale- 2/$4- Use 2-$1.50 off coupons and get $1RR back, makes both free.
  • rachel
Did anyone else have problems at the summerville, sc walgreens with not recieving a single register reward back? Cause I called corp. and spoke to them and they are working on resolving the issue.. so if you did call them with your reciept and let them know.. cause after speaking to the store manager today she told me I wasnt the only one.
  • tryingcoupons
I think I've seen this on here before, so I'm sorry if I'm repeating a question - but do you have to pay out of pocket for taxes? Or will coupons and RRs cover tax?
  • erin
RRs will not cover taxes, you will need to pay tax.
  • waymire
the way i understand it, the idea of filler items is to have one extra low cost item to use the rr with a coupon, since you can only have one coupon per item and the rr counts as a coupon. however, i noticed all the filler items have thier own coupons listed. am i correct that you would have to use the fillers without the coupon to do the rr deal?
  • CJ
You do not have to use the fillers without the coupons. You will just need to get more than one of that filler if it has a store coupon. In other words, if you plan to use the skittles for .49, you will have to buy two, but you will only need one store coupon for both. So the extra pack of skittles would actually be your filler item. Some are saying their stores do not count store coupons towards their total coupons, but mine does. Hope this makes sense.
  • tryingcoupons
If the coupon is a WAGS coupon, it's ok. For example, for this week, you can purchase the Valentines Pencil as a filler item for $.20 with in-ad coupon. As long as it's not a manufacturer coupon, you are good to go! You just need to make sure that however many manufacturer coupons you have, you have an equal amount of items. Hope that helps?
  • gogogammy
I shop at Wags several times a week and the store cpns had never counted before toward coupon/item ratio. This week I did the Bayer deal, bought 3 aspirin, used 3 MC and the store cpn. from Feb. cpn book. The register wouldn't take my last Bayer Manf. cpn. I recounted and my ratio should have been right, but cashier said register said not enough items. When I checked my receipt after store cpn. did take of $3 ($1 per item) but it came up as manf. cpn, even though bar code was for store cpn. Hope this was just a glitch for this one item. Anyone know?

its rolling here in Sugar Land, TX also!!!! this is so much fun!!!!
