These days we’re all looking for ways to cut costs and save money. Sometimes that might mean avoiding travel entirely, but if you’re looking to get out of town, you might be able to get a little farther than you thought with super cheap flights!
I am going to start sharing regular posts listing cheap flights I’ve found that you can take in the next several months. Later in the post you can see the flights I’ve found for today, but keep reading to learn how to find your own cheap flights.
How to find cheap flights
My first stop when looking for cheap flights is to head to Kayak Explore Tool and type in any airport and see flights to anywhere at any time. This site aggregates lots of flight info so you can get a big picture of what might be a good deal.

Once you have some ideas, you can go to Google Flights and type in up to 4 airports and 4 destinations at the same time. This is a great way to catch a unique combination you might not have thought to search for.
After that, consider some of the following tips:
- If you’re not looking to go anywhere in particular, use the “search anywhere” feature on Google Flights. Don’t go in with a set idea of where you want to go—be open for where the deals can take you!
- Having flexibility on dates means lower prices. It’s usually cheapest to fly in and out on a weekday, so searching for a Thursday to Tuesday trip will probably give you the lowest price.
- Try to fly from the biggest airports you can. That might mean driving to the next city over or even taking a “positioning flight.” This is where I take a short flight on a regional airline like Breeze, Allegiant, Frontier etc. for $39 that gets me to a larger airport. Then book a different ticket for a great deal from that airport.
- Consider all the airports near you as well. For example, in my area Charleston, SC, is always cheaper to fly out of than Charlotte, even though Charlotte is much bigger.
