Aldi Buying 400 Grocery Stores in Southeast

This week, the German-based grocery store Aldi announced plans to buy 400 grocery stores throughout the southeast.

According to a press release, Aldi will acquire about 400 Winn-Dixie and Harveys Supermarket locations across Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana and Mississippi.

Some stores will be converted to the popular Aldi format and some stores will continue to run as Winn-Dixie. Those stores will continue to operate under the Winn-Dixie name.

This deal will close at the beginning of 2024, so the changes will not take place immediately.
