Why does it have “Walmart” on the coupon?

    • Jill

Jenny, I went to cvs today and this was not giving ECB, and they would not accept the coupon because it had walmart on it. I even tried to explain that it was a manufactures coupon, but she said that cvs is not taking them. Do you know if cvs is not accepting them?

This did not prompt the ecb, but the store should have taken the coupon. Ask the store to print out the latest coupon policy from corporate. They started taking the manufacturer coupons and catalinas with other store names on them at the beginning of this year or some time last year. I can’t remember. The coupon says “redeemable at Walmart” or just has the Walmart logo, so that means you can use it anywhere that takes manufacturer coupons. The logo or wording is just a suggestion of where to use the coupon or buy the item. IF it said “redeem ONLY at Walmart,” then you can only use that coupon at Walmart.

I used a $1 off 2 Reese’s Miniatures coupon at CVS today with available at Walmart on it & my store took it without issue. But I have stopped shopping at another CVS that refuses to take them. That store won’t even take a manufactures coupon + a CVS coupon for the same item like other CVS’s will.

CVS cashiers always get confused when a coupon says “redeemable at” some store other than CVS. In my experience, they immediately refuse it, mistakenly thinking that means “redeemable ONLY at” so to eliminate confusion, I slightly alter the coupon to remove the “redeemable at” section by using white-out then color-copying the coupon. I destroy the original to stay legal, and it works every time. I look at this as self-serve-customer-service. We know the hard rules better than the store staff, so doing this removes questions at the register.
