If you sport naturally curly or wavy hair, you have probably heard great things about the Dyson Supersonic Hair Dyer. However, it isn’t realistic for all of us to spend $399.99 for a hair dryer, so I asked Southern Savers readers to give me their alternatives.

Here are all of their best suggestions!

Alternatives to the Dyson Diffuser

Shark HyperAir

This is one of the top recommendations from readers. This Shark HyperAir hair dryer comes with a diffuser. At $229.99, it sells for much less and is said to significantly reduce drying time. Still pricey but definitely an improvement.

Black Orchid Hair Diffuser by Xtava

The Black Orchid diffuser is another great alternative to the Dyson Diffuser. It sells for $13 and attaches to any hair dryer with a 1.8-inch diameter.

One of our readers uses it with an inexpensive Conair hair dryer and another reader uses it with the Babyliss Pro Nano Titanium. For other hair dryers, you can purchase the Snozzle Pro Universal Hair Dryer Nozzle attachment to securely fit most hair dryers with a 1.5-2.25-inch diameter.

Bellisima Diffon DF1 Curly Dryer

The Bellissima Diffon is a hair dryer specifically designed for curly hair. It’s light and compact with an ergonomic handle for comfort. This makes it a great alternative to the Dyson Diffuser. The Diffon sells for $99 + Free shipping.

T3 Featherweight 2 + T3 SoftTouch Diffuser 2

The T3 Featherweight 2 ($89.98) hair dryer can be used together with the T3 SoftTouch Diffuser 2 ($15.98) as another frugal alternative to the Dyson. This diffuser also fits the Featherweight LUXE 2i and PROi dryers.

Hot Sock Diffuser

The Hot Sock Diffuser is perhaps the most frugal alternative to the Dyson Diffuser, especially while traveling. It is lightweight and fits snugly on most hair dryers. The Hot Sock sells for the low price of $7.50!

Not convinced?

Some readers love the Dyson no matter the price. If your heart is still set on one, look into buying one that is refurbished. It even includes a 2 year warranty.
