broccoli salad

This broccoli salad is one of my favorite side dishes to bring to family gatherings or picnics! It’s easy to put together and is always a crowd favorite.

Frugal Recipe: Broccoli Salad

Ingredients

  • 5 cups fresh broccoli florets (about 2 heads), chopped into relatively small pieces
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup raisins
  • 1/2 cup cooked and chopped bacon
  • 1/2 cup sunflower seeds
  • 1/4 cup minced red onion
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 3 tbsp sugar
  • salt and pepper

Directions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, mix together the broccoli, cheese, raisins, bacon, sunflower seeds, and onion.
  2. Make the dressing: In a smaller bowl, mix together the mayo, sour cream, vinegar, sugar, and salt and pepper (to taste) until smooth.
  3. Add the dressing to the broccoli mixture and toss until everything is well coated.
  4. You can eat this immediately, but it's better if you let if chill in the refrigerator for about an hour before serving.
