Want to make sure your fresh produce is cleaned and ready to eat? Here’s how to clean produce using vinegar!

How to Clean Produce Using Vinegar:

1. You’re going to be combining cool water and white vinegar to make your cleaning solution.

2. Depending on how much produce you’re washing, get an appropriate size bowl and add 1 part vinegar to 3 parts cool water.

3. Add your fruits or veggies and let them soak for 15-20 minutes, giving them a good swish every so often.

4. Drain your produce and give it a rinse with clean water.

5. Lay the produce out on kitchen towels and allow to dry before putting away.

A few notes:

-The produce will not taste like vinegar after this process is over!
-If you’re cleaning items like lettuces or celery, pull apart each leaf or stalk and let those soak to make sure the cleaning solution can get to all the crevices.
-If I have a large load of produce, I’ll do this whole process in the sink! Follow the same instructions, just make sure to give your sink a good clean afterward.
-The veggie and fruit washes sold in grocery stores are basically pointless (and expensive), but vinegar has been shown time and time again to effectively remove bacteria.
-Vinegar is cheap!
