The Fourth of July is coming up! And that means that grills are starting to preheat, people are planning their patriotic outfits, and firework shows are prepping for the big day. Even if you can’t plan a big gathering this year, you can make it a special day by cooking out in the backyard with at least your immediate family.

If you’re in a rut and can’t decide what to prepare for the big day, here are some recipes that will be welcomed at your Fourth of July event! You can have all-American burgers and fries and then treat yourself to some red, white, and blue desserts.

Note: The prices listed below are an average price based on what’s on sale this week so you’ll have something to compare to your shopping list for your local grocery store.

Fourth of July Menu Plan

Homemade Smashed Burgers

I’m excited to see beef prices coming down for ground beef!  Take advantage of the sale and stock up, plus plan delicious burgers for the 4th!

ground beef – $3.49 lb at Publix & Kroger
hamburger buns – $1.75
sliced cheese – $1.50
onions – 99¢/lb

Macaroni Salad Tomato Cups

A super easy side, but dress it up with a fresh tomato.  Many of these items you may also already in the pantry, so it makes it super frugal.

pasta – $1
tomatoes – $1.49/lb
ham – $1.99
mayonnaise – $2

Oven Fries

These are amazing!  Think 5 guys just a little less oily… Potatoes are on sale everywhere this week too.

potatoes – $2.99 (5 lb bag)
oil – $1.50

Triple Berry Frozen Smoothies

Take advantage of berries being in season and try out these smoothies.  Berries are also great to freeze, so stock up while they are on sale.

blueberries – $2.50
yogurt – 50¢
strawberries – $2
cherries – $2.49/lb

Fourth of July Fruit Tart

Another great way to use fresh berries is a fruit tart.  You’ll also find cream cheese for only 49¢ at Kroger or on sale in lots of other stores.

blueberries – $2.50
strawberries – $2
raspberries – $2.50
