It’s almost a new month, which maybe feels surprising since time seems to have lost all meaning during this global pandemic. But it’s now the last month of summer (although we still have many warm days ahead in the south) and even if you’re mostly still just staying at home, people still need to it! As I do every month, I’ve got you covered with 31 days of meal ideas for August in this monthly meal plan.
August 2020 Monthly Meal Plan
This month, I had in mind the many families who are looking at what is perhaps a different school year than they had anticipated. Even if you feel confident in whatever choice you have made, it may not be the one you were expecting, and you may be dealing with last minute changes. Those things are stressful! So with that in the back of my head, I tried to come up with something really simple. One night, the meal is popcorn shrimp (yes, like the kind you buy in the frozen section and just pop in the oven). If that’s not something you want to buy or your family doesn’t like, then subsitute something else that’s just as easy. Corn dogs, maybe? The point of a plan is not to have a fancy meal every night; it’s to relieve stress and let you make the choice ahead of time so you’re not feeling frantic every day. It’s OK if the choice is corn dogs or popcorn shrimp!
I’ve also kind of come up with a new meal template that we’re using. Each week, I’m planning breakfast for dinner, grilling, and pizza. Then filling in the other nights with recipes that sound good and everyone likes. I’m hoping that makes for a simple August in the kitchen!
