Are you ready for National Scrabble Day?? In our house it also happens to be my two oldest’s birthday, so it’s a big day of celebrations!
Scrabble has been a family tradition for as long as I can remember. My aunts, uncles and cousins always played as a family when we were together and now we still take a scrabble board with us on any family vacation. As a little girl I would never win against the adults, but I learned a lot of strategy and have now become the person to beat… While I give some pointers to my younger girls, it is a game that they all enjoy. We’ve even already gotten our 3-year-old to start joining in on the fun… The picture below is from our game last week after dinner.
Pushing dishes aside after dinner and playing a game is becoming a trend at our house at least once a week. Whenever we do this you can see the faces light up instantly, and we all end up having a blast. I promise the dishes can wait, just let them sit there and enjoy the time together while you can. I know a day will come when they don’t want to play.
If you haven’t played Scrabble (or it’s been a while), let me refresh your memory. Everyone gets 7 letters and you try to come up with the best word you can. There is strategy, but most of it is by growing your vocabulary so you can think of more words! It’s the perfect game for kids of all ages whether they play with mostly 3 letter words or go more advanced. We let everyone play (even sweet Sarah above) just be ready to sweetly explain that some combinations aren’t actually words.
Go ahead and clear your schedule next Wednesday night (4/13) and make it a family Scrabble night! Not only will you all be celebrating National Scrabble Day, but I am pretty confident you’ll have a lot of fun too.

Did you know that every area and paper get different coupons?
This is one of the biggest things that can frustrate couponers… we all want the great coupon and only a few select areas got it. Each week volunteers send in their insert lists so to show exactly what came in your area. I take these and put them into the coupon database. In turn you can then have shopping lists that only show the coupons in your area! Take a look at this week’s coupon insert variations from 4/3.
