    hangout

Don’t forget that we won’d be meeting next week for a live online Q&A!  I’m taking the night off to spend time with family and shoot off some fireworks and you should too (as long as they are legal in your state that is).

If you want to catch up on some past Q&A’s in the meantime, check out the videos on our Youtube channel.

Have a happy Fourth of July!

      sally hansen cvs mary

I had plans of getting out for a big shopping trip this week, my guess is I will finally get there tonight or tomorrow morning.  I did run out for two quick trips though.

As I “walked” Publix this week for extra deals I grabbed kraft cheese that was on sale buy one get one.  There are no Kraft coupons, so it was just an easy 50% saved.  Not anything super exciting, but I’m always up for stocking up on the basics we need when they are at their best price.

My other trip was to CVS.  I shared the deal we got earlier today in a post, but I’ll put it here again.  There is a very fun, and very free deal on nail polish through tomorrow at all CVS stores.  As a mama of 5 girls I would be insane to not grab this one… I had three of my girls with me so I let each of them pick one color.  I don’t know how often I’ll use mint green, but I know one little girl who is very excited about it.

      We Bought:
      (1) Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Color, $9.99
      (1) Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure Color, $8.29
      (1) Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Duo Pack, $15.99
      Subtotal: $34.27
      Use:
-$5 off $15 purchase, CVS email coupon
-$3 off $20 cosmetics purchase, printing at CVS coupon center
-$2 off Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure printable
      (2) -$3 off Sally Hansen Miracle Gel nail item printable
      Total Due: $18.27
      Get Back: $15 ExtraCare Bucks
      Submit For:
-$4 off Sally Hansen nail color purchase, $15+, SavingStar eCoupon
-$2 off Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure, 1-ct., Ibotta App mobile coupon
-$3 off Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Duo Set, Ibotta App mobile coupon
-$3 off Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Top Coat, 1-ct., Ibotta App mobile coupon
-$1 off Sally Hansen Bonus when you submit (2) or more rebates, Ibotta App mobile coupon

After all the rebates we made $10 to buy nail polish.  That pretty much was what we spent on cheese, so you could say we broke even for the week.

How did you do this week?  Leave a comment or a link to your savings post.

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Chobani for IZEA. All opinions are 100% mine.

There are a few things I can always count on my crew eating.  Dip with crackers, chips or even fresh veggies is one of them.  They would try to make it a meal if I let them!  Recently we have seen some great deals on Chobani’s new Meze Dips so we decided to grab them and try them out.  They were such a hit that the first container was finished off the day it was opened… it was not even a party either, just 6 people sitting around going a little crazy.

What are the new Meze Dips?
Chobani, best known for their Greek Yogurt, launched Meze Dips recently expanding to the deli section and savory snacking. Chobani Meze Dips feature real veggies, herbs and spices blended with creamy Greek Yogurt in a shareable 10 oz container. The dip comes in four great flavors made with only natural, non-GMO ingredients.

There are four flavors to choose from: Roasted Red Pepper, Three Pepper Salsa, Chili Lime and Smoked Onion and Parmesan.  Our favorite so far was the Three Pepper Salsa.  Think of it like a creamy almost queso with a lot less fat and calories!  Score one for me and my diet.  The Three Pepper Salsa is a blend of Green Peppers, Chili Peppers and Jalapeno Peppers with Herbs and Greek Yogurt.  Total calories… 25 per serving!  Compare that to a queso and you will see just how much better Meze Dips are (not to mention the taste is amazing).  Just pretend for a moment that you did go a bit overboard and ate the entire 10 oz container with fresh peppers, carrots and other vegetables, just hypothetically, you would have only eaten 125 calories!  You would also be pretty stuffed too.  I’m not saying you should eat it all in one sitting, but in case it happens there is no guilt.

If you want to try these out there is currently a $1 off coupon you can print.  You will find them in stores across the country including Target and Walmart.  They retail for $3.99 a container, but we’ve already seen some sales and will continue too.

I have this on my shopping list this week to grab two flavors we haven’t tried yet (the Smoked Onion and Parmesan and the Chili Lime) to add to our July 4th party fare.  We always try to have folks out for the holiday and I have a feeling everyone will enjoy them as much as we did.  I’m thinking these flavors will be mild enough for all ages.  Adding these into the mix also means I have some great healthy choices on the food table to pick from too.  Plan to grab with your dips fresh snow peas, green and red bell peppers, carrots and even broccoli to have healthy dipping options.

Two other healthy things to note if you aren’t already adding this to your shopping list (and printing out the coupon), Chobani Meze Dips are gluten free and they contain all the live cultures we normally get in yogurt.

            DIY Gifts: Personalized Doormat

There are so many ways to give thoughtful gifts on a budget.  Today’s DIY Gifts Idea is a super easy Personalized Doormat.  If you can handle a pair of scissors and a sponge you are set!  This is a gift that everyone will love and only took you maybe 10 minutes to make!

The total cost is less than $20, and would be even cheaper if you make more than one and reused your supplies.

            Materials:

Plain Doormat from Ikea or Target
            Outdoor Craft Paint
            Sponge Applicator
            Stencil Letters

            IMG_3659

I picked up my mat from Ikea, but then I saw a similar one at Target for a couple of dollars cheaper.  I think the Ikea doormat is a little bigger, but the Target one wasn’t small!  I picked up all of my other materials from Hobby Lobby.

            IMG_3660

The stencil letters I bought came in sheets, but I ended up cutting out the individual letters.  Cutting the letters gave me better control over the letter spacing and I ran a smaller risk of getting paint on the back of the letters and transferring it all over the mask when I move the sheet around.

I liberally applied the black outdoor craft paint to the mat.  Make sure you get in all of the corners of the letters.

            IMG_3661

The finished product is a sturdy mat to brush your shoes off with and it’s a fun way to welcome guests to your home.  Stencil the mat with anything:  A last name, a funny saying, an image or a Bible verse.  I love the idea of giving this as a wedding, Christmas or housewarming gift.
