It is that time of year again, time to stock up on chicken.
Zaycon Foods’ is holding their semi-annual chicken breast sale! You can get boneless, skinless, chicken breast for $1.79 lb. The only catch… it will come in a 40 lb box. For some families this is too much meat to store so I suggest splitting the order in half with a friend!
Keep in mind this meat is fresh and comes straight from the butcher, so you will need to split it up and put it into freezer or Food Saver bags to keep it fresh.
We have bought this at least 3 times and have always been very pleased.

I often get asked what the infamous acorns on Southern Savers lists mean. Many times I find that folks are confused and think this points only only the deals to stock up on.
Actually all the deals on the list are good deals. I don’t list the entire weekly ad, because many items are actually really bad prices. Our goal in saving money is buy items at their lowest price (generally at least 40% off the regular price) and stock up on them. So I try to make sure after coupons the deals have hit that mark.
An acorn gets added if I think it’s a crazy deal. Sometimes the list of deals can be a mile long and I don’t want you to miss a freebie or 10¢ deal half way down the list. Enter the acorn, and now your eye can’t miss the awesome deal in the midst of the sea of deals!
Sometimes a list will have no acorns… that can mean two things. Either I didn’t see anything that was an amazing price or I just completely forgot to add acorns. Just remember, acorn or no acorn, if it’s on the list you are good to go ahead and grab the item today.
