Shepherd’s pie is a favorite at my house. Every bite contains basically everything you should want from a meal: protein, veggies, carbs (my girls love the mashed potatoes…). Plus, it’s yummy and really hearty.
This recipe also freezes well. Once you’ve assembled your pie, let it cool, cover it well (either with plastic wrap and aluminum foil or a casserole dish cover), label it, and stick it in the freezer. To eat it, thaw it in the fridge overnight and then bake in a 350º oven until it’s hot and bubbly.
Savings Tip: With the price of beef right now, consider switching out ground beef for ground turkey or chicken. Both will taste great!
Shepherd’s Pie Recipe
Shepherd’s Pie
- 1 lb ground beef
- ½ cup diced carrots
- 1 cup diced onion
- salt & freshly ground black pepper
- ½ cup frozen peas
- 1 tbsp worchestershire sauce
- ½ cup ketchup
- ½ cup unsalted butter
- ½ cup all-purpose flour
- 2 cups low sodium chicken broth
- 3 russet potatoes
- ¼ cup milk (may be more or less)

It’s official!! Amazon has announced that 2026 Fall Prime Day will be October 6th and 7th! This is a HUGE annual event that kicks of all of the 4th quarter holiday shopping deals.
Tip: Prime Day sales are different than Black Friday and many of the top sales are for Amazon Prime members only. Grab a free month long trial to shop the sales or consider even a prime young adult membership for 18-24 year olds that gives a free 6-month trial!
From the preview list I get (that I’m not really allowed to share) I’m already seeing tons of sales that will be well below last years prices and many are beating last year’s Black Friday prices as well!! It’s exciting to see brands bringing their A-game!

- Up to 50% off Amazon Brand Electronics (kindle fires, fire tablets, fireTV, etc)
- Up to 60% off Ring & Blink Electronics
- Up to 50% off favorite brands like iRobot, Ninja, Shark, Dyson
