This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Fannie Mae. All opinions are 100% mine.

As many of you could probably guess, since starting Southern Savers I’ve met hundreds of amazing people and many of them, unfortunately, are down and out financially due to unemployment.  I receive dozens of e-mails from readers who are struggling to stay afloat despite all their best efforts to save money.  One of the biggest investments that may cause you the most stress is your home.

For any of you struggling with mortgage payments and/or heading towards a possible foreclosure, I have a resource that might be able to help you.  KnowYourOptions.com is a website from people committed to helping you deal with your home finances in a more efficient and less stressful way.  They will take you step-by-step through many strategies such as Refinancing, a Repayment Plan, Forbearance or Modification in an attempt to help you make ends meet.  Their section on Avoiding Foreclosure is really helpful, walking you through both a Short Sale and a Deed-in-Lieu.

There is also a “Beware of Scams” section that can keep you alerted to all the new ways that people, unfortunately, try to take advantage of unsuspecting homeowners.  After looking at that page for only a few minutes, I had already learned a great deal about staying protected.

In the end, KnowYourOptions.com is a great, user-friendly resource.  The site is easy to navigate and equipped with tons of great information on what you can do to avoid foreclosure and protect your family’s most valuable asset.

Most people have goals to save money and lose weight.  One of the common myths is that products with coupons are all unhealthy.  Each week, this list will provide you with some tasty, good-for-you frugal meal and snack ideas based on sales at the grocery store.

Today’s recipes focus on making substitutions for items in recipes based on sale items. For example, the Baja fish tacos call for cherry tomatoes and red cabbage, but vine ripe tomatoes and green cabbage are on sale and work just as beautifully in the recipe. Don’t be afraid to make simple substitutions that save you money without sacrificing flavor.

Did you know that everything you need in life can be purchased in CVS? Okay that might be a bit strong, but it’s close. The fun part is that if you understand their sales and deals then most of what you purchase can be amazing prices or even FREE using the instore reward system called Extra Care Bucks (ECB).

I get a lot of questions each week on how this works and how to get started so here is a detailed video to help you learn the ropes.

            In the end:

Start Small and just try it. You can sit here and watch this over and over again, but it will make a lot more sense once you get in the store and do it.

For even more details, read the CVS getting started guide.

Many of you got a fun new rebate yesterday for Box Tops for Education.  When you purchase 10 participating products you can get either a $10 visa gift card or 100 box tops for your school.

Sounds awesome right?  There is one snag the fine print on this rebate states that it is only for the folks that got the rebate form in their email.  You can easily find the form on General Mills’ site, but I don’t know that I would waste the time doing the rebate if you didn’t get the email.

So go check your email and see if you got it!

                (thanks to everyone that emailed!)
