I was recently given the opportunity to try out Chex Mix bars from My Blog Spark and General Mills.  I can’t say that they are my favorite (that’s another General Mills bar) but they were good.  My kids however would say that they were a favorite.  I made the mistake of explaining that they had cereal in them so one of my “too smart for their own good” 4 year olds decided that this made it an acceptable request for breakfast every morning.  I didn’t know what to say at first but then re-read the information sent with them:

they have less than 150 calories per bar and provide at least 8 grams of whole grain per serving (48 grams recommended daily)

The whole grains won me over and I decided this might be better for her than another more sugary breakfast option with no whole grains.  She was victorious and ate enjoyed breakfast wholeheartedly until the box was gone.  (Don’t worry breakfast also includes yogurt and fruit most mornings).  I’m also glad for her that Chex Mix bars are part of the Mage sale this week at Kroger.

Back to us adults though, this is really a great snack option if you crave sweets or chocolate.  Get your fix and stay healthy at the same time!  I like guilt-free treats.

Would you like to try them? Two readers will each win 2 boxes of Chex Mix bars!

To enter leave a comment of your biggest food craving or a healthy way to fix it.  I will pick the winners tomorrow.

Walgreens is running a sale through Saturday on the following items. The big exciting part of the sale is:

Spend $25 dollars on anything in the store and get $5 in Register Rewards.
(excludes prescriptions, tobacco etc that is normally excluded)

Technically you should be able to get your Register Reward by spending $25 before coupons… Walgreens doesn’t always work the way we like though so just keep an eye on things as you are checking out.

                  Coupons for Home Depot

                  on 8.19.2009 at 2:31pm
                  3 Comments

I get asked by the men (and some women) that attend workshops how to save at Lowe’s and Home Depot.  I’m not the stockpile price expert there but I do know of a great way to get Home Depot coupons at least.

Sign up for their Garden Club.  You will get emails every couple of weeks with coupons.   One of the coupons I got this morning:

                  50% off any Orchid

I would love to post the link but it is individualized, so you will have to register and get your own email.  Think of it as an inexpensive flower for a friend or a wife…
