My veterinarian says not to feed this to my dog. He says is it mostly carbohydrates and is not the best choice. Of course, if this is what you can afford right now, it is better than nothing.

I’m sure your comment was meant to be helpful; but it does sound a bit condenscending. We gave our last Labrador Purina Dog Chow for all 14 years of his very healthy and active life. Our newest Labrador is now on his 4th year of eating Purina Beneful and is healthy enough to keep up with our 2 month old kitten. I am willing to bet your dog is as healthy and happy as mine. High $$ pet food doesn’t guarantee your pet a healthy existence. So says MY vet.

I agree. Our vet told us our dog would get sick if I fed her anything but Science Diet. She has been eating whatever I can get a deal with and she is still healthy and happy. No excess weight gain, or tummy troubles. Granted, I do draw the line with kibble and bits…lol

I totally agree with you! All the expensive dog food brands that are ridiculously priced are a big hype. Mine have always eaten Purina and they are in perfect healthy. Not everyone can afford the expensive brands and our dogs are proof that Purina is obviously just as good. I know her comment was meant to be informative but it really was annoying. I believe that a lot of vets tell you not to feed your dog the “cheaper” brands such as Purina because they want to sell you the expensive brands that they have sitting in their lobby for sale! They get a kickback or make a profit most of the time when you buy the expensive stuff off of their recommendations!
