Ways to save on vacation, travel & Disney. Here are some great tips to save money on vacation.

Over the last 7 years of Southern Savers I’ve written a lot on saving while you are traveling, vacationing, and “Disneying”.  I thought a few days before half of America takes spring break would a great time to remind you of some quick and easy tips to save on your vacation, travel and Disney trips.

We are making a day trip for our “spring break” trip to see the Niña and Pinta ships as they visit Charleston Harbor, but for anyone else that is traveling longer and further here’s hoping you can save a ton!

We are planning a trip to Las Vegas sometime in June – the only time we can all go – and REALLY need ANY helpful tips and/or recommendations with regard to flights, accommodations, AND activities. We have never been there – do not gamble – and rarely travel. Any insight that you may have in regard to Las Vegas in particular would be greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance.

We’re actually going close to the same time. We also don’t gamble, or drink, so it seems like an odd destination but you can get great airfare, hotel & rental car deals there. It has to be booked by tonight, but Frontier Airlines has one way flight deals as low as $29 through May 20. As an example, Atlanta to Las Vegas is $118 round trip right. For hotel and car check travelocity. We have day trips planned to the Grand Canyon,Hoover Dam, Bryce National Park, Zion National Park, and one to California. Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Santa Monica. If you like the History Channel Shows like Pawn Stars, Counting Cars, Ricks Restoration, etc, there’s a Groupon available for a tour that goes to all those places. Download the Vegas app. It has a complete section on Free stuff to do there. Groupon and Living Social both have deals for that area.

If you don’t mind going to a timeshare presentation – agree to do that. When we went to Las Vegas a few years ago, they asked us about it at checking and gave us a $100 food voucher and $100 casino voucher for any of the hotels in that chain (Paris, Flamingo, Harrah’s, etc.). They are a little pushy at the presentation, but we knew we weren’t going to buy and told them that after the presentation and they gave us our free gifts and let us go. Took about 1 1/2 hours. Not bad for free breakfast and $200.

Dining, Souviners and lodging are way cheaper in Old Vegas (Freemont St) than on the strip. You can get a prime rib dinner with the trimmings for $9.99. you’ll pay at least four times as much at any restaurant on the strip. Freemont St. also has a free light show in the evenings.

Haha, I live in Charleston and I have to hear it from you! I’m definitely going to have to see those ship replicas- my 3yo has been wanting to go on a “boat” for a while now, and the paddleboat at the park didn’t cut it…
