Long summer days filled with favorite books sounds amazing to me!  I know kids don’t always feel the same way, so encourage summer reading with great programs and fun incentives.

For kids, the more they read, the more summer reading rewards they can get!

Check out all the ways your kids can be rewarded for their reading with this list of 2025 Summer Reading Programs.  Many of them have sweet rewards and incentives to keep your kids reading!

Check out lots of ways to get free eBooks and audiobooks.

Half Price Books

Join the Half Price Books Summer reading camp and earn $5 off any purchase when your kids submit a completed reading log!  They can earn for the month of June and again in July!! Registered participants have access to printable camp components all summer, including reading lists, activity ideas, and coloring sheets.

Barnes & Noble

Kids in grades 1-6 can earn a FREE book from Barnes & Noble after reading (8) books and keeping track of them in a reading log. Program runs through August 31st.  Get the reading journal download.

Books-A-Million

Choose any 4 books from the Books-A-Million Summer Reading Adventure in-store or online, complete the log book and submit to your local store to claim a free hat.

 Mensa Excellence In Reading

Help encourage the joy of reading with a fun reading program offered by Mensa.  You don’t have to be a member to join the challenge, it’s open to any kids 18 or younger around the world.  After completing the reading log your kids will earn a certificate of achievement and a free t-shirt.
This is an ongoing program that does not have an end date.  When your child has read all the books for their age level they get the award.

Chuck E. Cheese

 Earn (10) FREE tokens to Chuck E Cheese each time your child reads for 2 weeks in a row by filling out the form and bringing it in to claim your tokens.  There is no limit on rewards!  You do need a food purchase to get the tokens, so grab a coke and watch them play.

Panda Express

The Panda Express Read With Me program targets pre-K thru 5th grade students. This is a year-long program for classroom teachers, but anyone who teaches students can register. You will receive a digital coupon for a free meal to provide to students once they have completed 5 books. Rewards can be redeemed at participating Panda Express locations.

Pizza Hut Book It Program

Book It is a free reading program designed for kids  in preK – 6th grade.  Parents can use the BOOK IT! Mobile App to set goals, track progress, and redeem rewards during the summer months of June, July, and August. When children meet their monthly reading goal, they’ll receive a free one-topping personal pan pizza from Pizza Hut.

Scholastic Summer Challenge

The summer reading program from Scholastic  invites kids (ages 4-14) to log minutes spent reading online in the Home Base app.  The more they read and track, the more digital rewards and prizes they unlock.  Program runs through September 12th.  Get a reading streak started and also help to earn free books for charities around the world!

H-E-B Buddy Summer Reading Club

For kids 3-12 years old that live in Texas, H-E-B grocery stores offers a free H-E-B Summer Reading t-shirt.  Read 10 books and mail in your reading log.  They will mail you a shirt back!
The 2025 program has not started yet.

Sonlight

Sonlight Christian Homeschool Curriculum provides this free printable Summer Reading Challenge Kit full of suggested books, fun activities and goals to keep kids reading all summer long. Even more exciting is their new reading program for moms! Now moms can also read, track and earn a free T-shirt, plus be entered for a chance to win a $50 coupon that can be used toward any Sonlight purchase!

Reading is Fundamental (RIF)

RIF’s Action-Packed Pages Summer Reading Program provides inspiration for kids to complete activities related to books they read. Take the reading pledge and start your journey with the eight recommended book collections and corresponding activities on their site.

MLB Teams

For anyone in the South Florida area, your kids can read with the Tampa Bay Rays and get FREE baseball game tickets and fun prizes.  Track their reading and submit your completed tracker by email.  Program starts 5/25.

Also find summer reading incentives through the Texas Rangers, Washington NationalsLA Dodgers and possibly other MLB teams!

Your Local Library

Don’t ever forget about your local library when it comes to Summer Reading programs.  Many offer prizes throughout the summer.  While many programs are going virtual this year, don’t forget that your library card can give you free access to thousands of free eBooks and Audiobooks!
