Last year, my good friend Jen from Balancing Beauty and Bedlam and I jumped into new territory… head first.  As women, I think we are constantly looking for ways to keep up with the Jones’.  We spend so much time and effort trying to be what we think others are, that we forget about taking care of what’s in our house and family.  Jen and I wanted to create a weekend where we could all learn ways to become more creative, purposeful and frugal and we wanted our readers to join the journey with us.  We wanted you to feel empowered and equipped to make the everyday wonderful.

So, that’s the story of how our annual Becoming Conference came to life.  We had such a blast last year at our first annual conference and can’t wait to see many of you this year!

Last year we covered everything from personal finances and couponing, to re-purposing and creating for your home.  At Becoming 2012 we’ve decided to broaden our horizons by adding photography, hair, make up and fashion, as well as an optional hands on Furniture Painting and Crafting Workshop that will take place on Friday afternoon (at an additional cost).  I don’t know how you’ll be able to choose which ones you’re going to attend, because they all sound so great!

Design ideas during a workshop last year.

Becoming 2012 takes place Sept. 21 – 22 in Asheville, NC. Since we are all about being intentional with our finances, the cost for the entire conference will once again only be approximately $100 (based on a standard room double occupancy. Specific room details to come). This includes the conference fee, three meals and hotel accommodations.

We will not be opening reservations until the end of June, so if  you would like to be updated on new announcements and registration info, feel free to sign up for the Becoming email newsletter and Becoming Facebook page, so you don’t miss out on anything. Last year, the event sold out on the first day, and we assume that could happen again.

Want to check out the lineup we have for our fantastic speakers?  See their detailed bio at our Becoming Conference site.

Can someone do JUST the furniture class? I SO need some schooling on that!

      • Beautyandbedlam

Sorry Jenni – it’s part of the conference, but I know that our instructors do teach classes on their own.

    • Lynnzeealdridge

I just tried to add my name to the newsletter and where it says last name it declines me and say’s Enter URL.  I really would like to get the new letter.  I missed last years and would like to come to this one.

      • JeninCarolina

It happened to me, too, Lynn. Hopefully it will be fixed soon.

      • Annetteled

you can just delete your last name and it will take it and then you can add it after you confirm subscription

        • Deanna

Thank you for the help!  Same thing here, but your suggestion worked! :)

    • Lynnea

Will you be offering a locals price for those of us who live in Asheville that does not include hotel, etc.?

      • Kylie

If you click on the becoming link above it pretty much specifies the prices. They may change a little this year, but it looks as if you could just pay for the conference

    • Blonderw03

this was so awesome last year!! Hope I can go again this year!!

    • Angel in Charleston

Ohhh, I can’t wait! My mom and I came last year…hoping some (or all) of my sisters will join us this year. We had a blast!

    • Heater1212

I live in the area, will there be an option for attending the conference, but not staying the night?

      •  There is a price for those not staying at Ridgecrest I want to say last year it was around $60?  And that included Lunch Saturday so you didn’t have to pack anything.

        • Jamaicangal2001

Cool!  I live in Georgia, but I went to Ridgecrest last Spring for my mom’s church conference.  It’s a beautiful place and the staff there is amazing!!!

    • Rae

Us Georgians are waiting for a visit.  We would love to have you.

    • Countrygirlncamo

I have checked the website but i was looking for the times for each day.  I will be in the area from out of town for training on the 21st and i was hoping to see if i can attend since i’ll already be in asheville but i need the times for the classes each day.

      •  Based on last year things got started around 6 Friday night until 10 and then start back at 9 Saturday morning and run all day.

    • Cindy

I agree with Rae, come to Georgia (close for Floridians too).  May I suggest Lake Oconee Area (BEAUTIFUL!!).

    • tcy

      • Beautyandbedlam

    • MeganD

Yes Please come a little further south!

    • jenks27

how many nights of hotel accomodations does this include? Both Friday and Saturday night or just Saturday/Friday night?

      • Beautyandbedlam

This includes one night of hotel (on Friday evening), and you have the option of staying another night at a discounted price, through their  registration center.
