Are you hoping to find some great deals over the Prime Day sales next week?  Whether you are new to Prime Day or a seasoned shopper, here are some of my tips to getting the best deals, making sure you really have a deal and not missing all the perks!

Get a Trial Membership Now

First off, you must be a Prime member to shop most of the sales.  If you aren’t a prime member you won’t even see the sale prices when you browse the site.  Go ahead and sign up for a 30-day trial membership now.  If you are a student (or have one living in the house) you can get a 6-month free trial of Amazon Student Prime and still have access to the sales.

Price Deals Across Other Sites

As you hunt for deals, the savings they will show is not always truthful.  Quickly stick the product in a google search, or hunt across a few other large sites to see if the sale price is a real sale.  You can also check my go-to site Camel Camel Camel to see the price of a product on Amazon over the last 6 months.  This helps you confidently buy knowing you really are getting a deal!!

Look for Coupons and Extra Discounts

Many times Prime Day deals will be through exclusive coupons.  When you first click on the product the price won’t look different, instead you’ll see a “clipable” coupon for Prime Members only for a large percentage off!  Make sure you clip those coupons to get the deals you want.

Always Select Subscribe & Save

If there is ever an option to “Subscribe & Save” you should always select it!  Even if it’s a $150 electric toothbrush… you are going to get an extra 5% to 15% off and can ALWAYS cancel the future order.  I always set the next shipment to be 3-6 months out so I have plenty of time to go in a cancel.  You can manage all current subscriptions in your account here.

Make sure to have at least 5 items in your order to get the highest discount.  Here’s a great list of filler items that are less than $2 to help you get to 5 items (like my Windex in my most recent order above).

I emphasize always canceling because you will not get the Prime Day sale or extra discount on any future orders, just the first one…

Lots of Digital Deals

Prime Day isn’t just about products you’ll have shipped.  There will be lots of digital deals on movies, books, streaming channels, games and more.  You’ll also find great extended trials for Audible, Kindle Unlimited, Amazon music and many other services.

Best Prices We See On Amazon Devices

This sale makes for the lowest prices we see all year on Amazon devices.  This is the best time to grab a new Kindle, Fire Tablet, Fire TV and more.  We will see similar prices on Black Friday, but still not quite as low as Prime Day.  You also don’t need to wait to buy these, the deals on all Amazon devices have already started.

Echo Dot (4th gen) – $19.99 (reg. $49.99)

Many Other Sales Running

It’s important to know that many other sites try to compete with Amazon over these sale events.  Shop Target Deal Days starting Monday 7/11, also find deals at Kohls, Best Buy, Walmart and many others.

Savings Tip: If the price is the same on Amazon or Kohls, always pick Kohls and earn the Kohl’s cash back on your purchase.  If the price is the same on Target or Amazon, always pick Target and pay with your RedCard to get another 5% off your purchase.

Consider Getting the Amazon Prime Credit Card

If you promise to pay it off every month, you should definitely consider getting the Prime Visa Card.  Not only will you earn 5% back in free credit to spend on Amazon, right now they are also offering a big $200 Amazon gift card instantly when you are approved!!

Over Prime Day you’ll earn 6% back on every purchase and you’ll also find participating items that are offering up to 10% back in Amazon credit!
