As I hoped this week we only went to CVS and didn’t need to get any groceries.  I’m running low on milk, but I think we can hold till Monday.  I already shared our CVS run and a video, so head over and watch/see how we got $116 for only $9.60.  It was a great week!

Remember that to share your savings, you can now share all week over in the community under Sharing Stories.  You can still share on instagram using hashtag #southernsavers or leave your savings story straight in the comments below.  Links left below are held for moderation and really should be left in the community.

This is a change to hopefully help you not have to wait till late on Friday to hear about deals. My goal is to start to share our savings the day we make trips as well (like CVS this week) and after today I won’t post a Friday Final post at all.

To be honest, Friday Finals is actually a post series that I didn’t enjoy anymore and realized that since this is my little world, and I need to enjoy what I post, that this needed to go.  I know some of you loved it, but I ask that you please understand for me that it’s hard to muster up a post every week that you are slowly growing to hate.  It just can’t last.  And so I ask for your understanding as we move to something new.

I respect your choice. This was the first savings blogs I started following 3 years ago, but now I’ve been more loyal to other blogs. For the past months, I’ve been checking sputhern savers on Mondays, to check Publix sales and on Fridays, to check the Friday finals. I’m an accountant, so I love structure. That’s just my preference. Sad to say, I will only check southern savers on Mondays. I still appreciate tremendously what you have done for me. You basically thought me to coupon.

    • Maggie

I really looked forward to it. So I’ll be missing it.

Jenny you do a great job for us and we appreciate everything – you should do whatever makes your job easier! I think it really will help having the videos during the week so we can duplicate the deals – thnx!

I think your reasons make sense. Actually, seeing people’s savings as they occur makes better sense to me than waiting for days after they made the purchases. Sometimes stuff just has to change to keep from going stale.

Thanks for all you do! I love this site.

I am sad to hear this news. I am kinda in the same boat as Mary b/c i started couponing after going to a workshop of yours. As your website has changed, I find I am using it less and less. I feel like it is losing the ‘personal’ touch it had years ago. Not intended as a criticism, just my opinion. The Friday Finals post, however, was one I always checked. I didn’t look forward to the post to only see what you personally had bought but rather as a single post where I could see the deals many, many other couponers had scored, in case I had missed something throughout the week. It was good while it lasted. I will miss it!

      • I’m always up for feedback so thanks for sharing your opinions on things. Do you feel like the content over the years has changed, or that maybe you have grown your couponing to a level that you rely less on the deals?

        • swissmiss

I also looked forward to the friday finals. It helps me find deals that I may have overlooked. I followed your link to the community as you instructed and I will try to get used to this but …How do I get to the community without the link??

Hmm, good question, maybe a little of both. As a new couponer, I read the all the posts and a lot of comments. Once I got the hang of couponing, I just scanned for the posts that I could actually use. I found some other blogs that have a little more variety that I now check. The one thing that kept me coming back to Southern Savers was the Friday Finals. It was a neat post that the other blogs didn’t have. I liked having all of the deals posted in one spot so I could see what I had missed during the week. Overall, the content now seems to be a little dull w/ less personal touches (less comments by you, less personal deals scored, less shopping trips of triumphs and trials, less just for fun posts, less giveaways). I haven’t joined the Community yet but I will ck it out. I do appreciate all your work; you have helped my family save a lot of money. You need to do what you enjoy. Again, just my opinion, not intended as a criticism.

kept me motivated… I work 3 jobs, and sometimes it is difficult to think about getting a list together because I am exhausted. But then I look at how awesome all my fellow couponers are doing, and I am like I can’t stop now! Look at all those awesome deals. Sad to see the passing of this part of your site.

I think I will enjoy seeing/reading it the day of. It is helpful because if we did want to duplicate anything the sale might be over by the time Friday rolls around! I hope this will make it easier for you too! You have been teaching me soooo much and I do appreciate all the hard work you put into this site. I currently average 70% savings or better each grocery trip and that would not happen without you and southern savers!

I am glad you could make this change. You and your team put a lot into this site! I have been following SS for over five years now. Friday finals was nice, but I got more out of the user comments on the specific store posts, and on the community.

    • Holly

Have you considered allowing one of your community leaders to take the lead on Friday Finals and continue posting it?

    • Alesia Coker

so sad really liked Friday finals I don’t have time to check sales everyday and it was a great way to gather up deals that I missed during the week so I could do my own weekend sat, final . but thanks for what you do . I know it must be very time consuming as is searching for deals when I really should be doing something else lol.

Jenny, I applaud your ability to evolve. I check once a day or more to make sure I don’t miss a really good printable; you have already helped me start Christmas shopping (the built ny deal); and I won’t hit up Target, CVS or Winn Dixie without double checking the post.

You and yours have helped me continue to save money while we go through some major life changes, and have kept my husband calm when shopping bags come in the house, because he knows I checked with you first.

      keep up the good fight!

I have followed your site for a couple of years. And I have never looked at the Friday Finals….Just to make you feel better ;) I continue to follow your site, it’s the first I check when looking for deals. Thanks for all you do!

I am sorry that you were growing to hate Friday Finals. Personally, I hated them too. I try really hard to provide for our 1 income family of 8 + 2 pets + trying to donate to our church pantry. Then I look at Friday Finals and beat myself up for not getting/ missing out on a great deal that we really could have used. I look forward to your new venture.

    • Wendy

I have followed southern savers for several years and am amazed at the growth you have experienced. You have added so many stores and additional features. Kudos to you for making the change. There will always be those who complain about change, but they will adjust. I don’t think there is a site that evenly comes close to Southern Savers in providing the quantity of content.

    • gingerinCA

Personally, I won’t miss Friday Finals at all. I rarely look at them anymore. Like someone else said, it just sort of made me feel like I should have been able to score better deals. And why should you bother with a post that makes you miserable? Happy people tend to produce better work. I also think it makes much more sense to have that function available on an everyday basis, for those who use it to make sure they didn’t miss any great deals, because by Friday, the great deals are often gone. Anyway, life is always changing. We humans are excellent at adapting. We will all adjust. :)

    • Bendie

      no, i miss it already!!!!!!
