After several weeks of warm weather, we had a cold snap that ruined all my great plans to grill in April. But now that May is around the corner, I’m hoping to break out the grill more and keep the house cooler. In South Carolina, summer basically begins in May and doesn’t end until October, so there’s plenty of time to take advantage of cooking outside!
In addition to the warmer weather, a lot of our family activities have a few more weeks before they break for the summer, so I love having a monthly meal plan that will keep me from having to think about what we’re going to eat every day.
May Monthly Meal Plan
This month’s meal plan includes some family favorites like bacon wrapped chicken and pasta carbonara as well as some new recipes like French Onion Chicken that I’m excited to try. You’ll also see some super simple crowd-pleasers like meatball subs and breakfast for dinner.
If you or someone in your family is on a special diet, all of these meals may not work for you. Omit one of the starchy sides if you’re doing keto, or omit the cheese if you’re doing paleo. I tried to include some meat-free nights for those who are vegetarian, too!
As I did last month, I didn’t always specify a certain vegetable to have with each meal. Head to the farmer’s market and pick out what looks the best and freshest!
You’ll also see that there are three “special” days this month where you might want to do something a little extra special. We’ll have unique posts with lots of recipe ideas for Cinco de Mayo, Mother’s Day, and Memorial Day, so be sure to check back!
