Meal plans are always helpful, but they feel even more necessary to me in the summer. Even though the pace of our life slows down in terms of appointments and extracurricular activities, it’s nice to know what the plan is when we leave the house for a day of swimming or time with friends.
June Monthly Meal Plan
I’m really excited about having some of our family favorites like red beans and rice, grilled brown sugar mustard glazed salmon, and roasted chicken salad. I’m also looking forward to trying some recipes from some of my favorite food bloggers that I haven’t had a chance to make yet. These cajun salmon burgers might pass muster with all my kids, and these beef kofta meatballs look delicious!
I usually plan meals with some kind of framework in mind. Since we let our kids stay up a bit later in the summer, Friday nights are movie and pizza night, so I’ve planned some kind of “pizza” meal for Friday nights. You can make your own dough or just use store-bought dough if that’s more your style.
I also planned a special meal for Father’s Day! Steaks aren’t something we eat as a family very often, but for my husband, we’re going to splurge a bit. I’m planning on buying several large ribeye steaks, grilling them, and then cutting them into smaller portions for our kids.
Remember that it’s hard to make a meal plan that will suit everyone. Feel free to make adjustments or substitutions that work for your family! But hopefully this provides some inspiration for you as you plan this month’s meals.
