I need a place to vent: I was determined to save money this year and was so excited when I found this sight because I only shop at harris teeter. I have followed the recommendations regarding sales cycles and matching the coupons with the sales.  This is my problem: first of all, apparently I don’t use very many of the products that provide coupons, and second of all, I have a very limited amount of time to shop (I work full time and care for my elderly mother), whenever I am able to shop (it varies from week to week, whenever I have someone to stay with my mother) the shelves are bare of all the sales items. Anyone have a suggestion for what I can do? I really need to save money and I want to use as many coupons as I can!

I totally feel your pain!  I can’t figure this out to save my life and have put off buying groceries for 3 days now because I don’t want to mess it up.  As it stands I can’t take my son with me because I can’t be distracted, so I am like a vampire headed out in the middle of the night to get my deals.  I actually posted on an iphone site, to someone writing an app that will help “challenged” folk with this.  I have a college degree, one would think I could nail this, but mustve been dropped on my head when I was a kid because I am LOST!  I can’t help you but can comfort you that you are  not alone dear!

Oh, and I haven’t washed towels in a week in a half because I can’t figure out the fabric softener deal…..but I have eaten 2 boxes of popcorn this week because I DID nail that deal!  …and I’m bloated now, yay!

I absolutely have to coupon, can’t afford not to, and the ole Teeter is across the street so I keep trying.  I will add one helpful hint:  Anything they are out of, get a raincheck!  Then wait till the raincheck item goes on sale.  Somehow I wound up with 24 pounds of boneless chicken breast that way-still don’t know how but not complaining.

Hey. If you use softener on your towels be careful…. some make them less absorbent. Yes, you will have soft towels but they will not hold as much water or absorb as easily.

I went from working part time to full time about a year ago.  And I was having the same problem during the week with all the sale products  that I had coupons for being gone by the time I got to the store.  I found that if I shop on Saturday morning, the store is not crowded and the shelved have been restocked.  I almost always find everyting I need at that time of day.  And I can also take advantage of the Saturday only evic specials at the same time. Harris Teeter will also give you a rain check if sale products are not in the shelves.  Rain checks do not expire.

Not sure about the harris teeter in your area, but I shopped tonight at mine(Sat night) and they had restocked the shelves with most all the items I was looking for.  I got home late but I didn’t have to fight the crowd and I got some really good savings for our family.  I don’t have the time to get up early on the day of the sales and even if I did I would be fighting the crowd of people.  I find it’s best for me to go late at night.  Have your list ready and you’ll breeze right through.  Good luck.

The express lane works for me b/c I can gradually shop and send the order when I’m ready. If they’re out of an item, they will sub the item and still use the coupon (I know — strange) or do rainchecks. I do not have to wait for the rainchecks that way. Couponing does get better with time. I also stockpiled things we can always use, so there is a lot less stress in general about meals.

you wouldnt get double coupons but you could print the flyer off line and price match to walmart if thats convenient to you, I also price match produce from Aldis (no add required) and if you dont have a coupon the great value brands are pretty good on most things.

I understand a limited amount of time but when the item you want is not there go to customer service and ask for a rain check on the sale items. You can use it the next time you are in the store and they will match the sale price. I used my rain check at Kroger and CVS
