We tend to eat a lot of broccoli: it’s a great source of fiber and vitamin C and even has some protein. It’s yummy steamed or sauteed, but try it roasted in the oven for a unique flavor!
This oven roasted broccoli recipe is super easy and the roasting creates slightly crispy edges.

Ingredients
- 4 cups fresh broccoli florets
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- salt and pepper
Directions
- Preheat the oven to 425 degrees.
- Line a baking sheet with foil or parchment. Add the broccoli, oil, garlic powder, and salt and pepper and toss to coat.
- Roast in the oven for 15-20 minutes, stirring once, until the edges are slightly browned.

It’s officially fall, and we’ve already started decorating the house! Probably the most iconic fall decoration is the pumpkin. This year, I wanted to spice things up instead of just setting out plain, orange pumpkins around our house, so I searched for interesting ideas for decorating with pumpkins. Let me know which one you try!
DIY Decorating with Pumpkins
Mums in a Pumpkin
This first decoration would make a great centerpiece for dinner,Thanksgiving, on a table in the living room or even just to set by your front door! Jenny Hobick goes step by step how to create this beautiful centerpiece. It’s really easy! First, find a vase to fit in your pumpkin and choose the flowers you want. Draw an outline of the vase around the top, center of the pumpkin so you can cut and carve it out. You can either use floral foam or not to start arranging the flowers. You can make it as dramatic or simple as you want with the colors and even type of pumpkin you like best.
Pumpkin-Filled Lanterns
Have an empty container begging to be filled? Here’s a great option! Fill it with small pumpkins, pine cones and gourds. You can even paint the pumpkins to match your home’s color scheme. Whether it’s a lantern, a vase, a glass lamp base, or something else, this would be a great option for some easy cheer.
Velvet Pumpkins
A couple of years ago I saw The Nester post about some velvet pumpkins she received. I thought they were so interesting! I recently went on a hunt to find a DIY version of them. Sadie Priss provided a step by step tutorial for these beauties. She used crush velvet cut into a circle, filled the velvet with a rice/polyfill combination and gathered the edges to sew them shut. One top, she glued abandoned stems that she found in a local pumpkin patch (definitely a cheap solution). If you can’t find stems so easily, you can buy a cheap pumpkin, cut off the stem and cook the pumpkin seeds while you’re working on this craft!
