It’s official, Walmart announced Friday that they would officially end their Savings Catcher program on May 14th.

This doesn’t come as a surprise as they have been slowly making it hard to use and applying the savings to less items in the store.  You can continue to submit receipts (or really use Walmart Pay to auto submit receipts until 5/13.  Any money you have in your account will always be yours to use.

Keep in mind that Walmart doesn’t price match any local ads, so without savings catcher you are better off shopping at Target who does price match all local competitors and online competitor prices!

                  From Walmart:

What we’ve learned through Savings Catcher is that our efforts to lower prices upfront on thousands of items across our stores is working. Walmart’s prices win most often when you submit your receipts, which tells us that the program’s intent has been met. (Not sure what data they pulled to make that a true statement.)

That’s why we have decided to discontinue the Savings Catcher receipt submission, effective May 14, 2019. After May 14, you will no longer be able to submit your Walmart Pay eReceipts to Savings Catcher. But don’t worry, the money you have on your Savings Catcher eGift Card will remain yours to spend until you’re ready to use it.

                  My Two Cents:

I’ve long shared that shopping at Walmart will never beat sales running in other stores.  They can’t touch BOGO deals at Publix, Mega Events at Kroger or CVS ExtraCare Deals.  Humorously their app wasn’t already not matching in Kroger or CVS deals so they wouldn’t know just how bad their regular prices are.

Remember, they told you up front with their slogan “Always Low Prices” that nothing was on sale.  Shop the sales, I promise the savings will be well worth it!
