For the next DIY I decided to make a monogram pillow. It was so easy to make and too me less than an hour. I had some pillow cases that I bought at Ikea and I wanted to spice them up a little. This tutorial looks “charming.” It’s definitely not perfect, but I love the well-loved look of this pillow for a nursery or kid’s room.
Supplies:
Linen Pillowcase (Ikea)
Embroidery Thread
Needle
If you want a perfect pillow, you can use a fabric pencil to mark your design on the pillow before you start stitching. I winged it and free-handed the stitches.
Once you have your design, start a running stitch. All you do for a running stitch is push the needle into the fabric so it will create multiple stitches with one pull. You can make the stitches as long or short as you want.
When I got to the curve of the “B,” I pulled out my embroidery hoop. Since I didn’t draw on my pillowcase first to get a perfect curve, I followed the curve of the hoop.
After I finished the outline of the letter, I tied it off and moved to the lines on the inside. This is a craft where you can get very creative. Add designs inside the monogram or french knots as a background to the letter.
And then you’re done!
