Although the calendar may not say it’s summer, a lot of you have kids who are finished with school, and that most certainly means summer. Plus, it’s getting hot! And I know you’re probably looking for fun activities to keep your kids happy and cool.
Get them in the kitchen and let them help you make this refreshing raspberry lemonade soda! There are no artificial dyes involved and it’s perfect for a hot day. And I’ve also included a fun recipe for a homemade slurpee! It simply uses the soda you’ve already made and ice.
Ingredients
- 3/4 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice (about 5-6 lemons)
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 pint raspberries
- 20 oz club soda
Directions
- Add the lemon juice to a container that can be sealed (I used a quart-sized juice jar). Pour in the sugar and stir until the sugar is completely dissolved.
- In a blender, puree the raspberries. To remove the seeds, pour and push the raspberry puree through a sieve into a bowl. Discard the seeds and pour the seedless puree into the container with the lemon juice. Stir to combine.
- Slowly pour the club soda over the mixture and then gently stir (be careful; the soda can be really fizzy!).
- Serve over ice and store leftovers in the refrigerator. This recipe makes 1 quart.
Homemade Raspberry Lemonade Slurpee
-8 oz raspberry lemonade soda
-2 cups ice
Add all ingredients to a blender and blend until the ice is crushed and the mixture is icy and smooth. Serve immediately.
