I confess, I’m a late adopter of Swagbucks, but I’m ready to see how this goes. I’m all signed up and have my 3 swagbucks just for signing up. I’m even setting a high goal… enough swagbucks to buy a Wii Fit.

I’ve heard that this is very doable, I just need to have persistence.

What is all of this?

Swagbucks.com is a search engine that rewards you for searching with swagbucks. These are play dollars that are saved up and then redeemed for prizes or giftcards of your choosing. A few examples:

450 points = $5 Amazon Gift Card

700 points = $5 in Paypal cash

140 points = $5 Red Envelope.com gift card

These are low prizes, but you can save your swagbucks up for larger prizes too.

How do you earn Swagbucks?

You get 30 Swagbucks just for signing up.

Search the web. Use Swagbucks.com (or their toolbar) to do all of your searching from now on. As you search you will earn/find swagbucks. (I just searched for the very first time after typing this and got another 5 swagbucks!)

Shop online using Swagbucks instead of another cash back site. Get 1 Swagbuck for every $5 you spend.

Refer a friends to Swagbucks.

Find Swagbuck codes on blogs etc. and enter them for more bucks.

Does it work?

I have heard from many of you that got lots of free things from Amazon over the year so I am thinking the answer is yes.

I’m going to keep you updated, each week when I post Friday Finals I will also post how many bucks I earned this week. I hope it will help to keep me accountable remembering to “swag” everyday! Want to join in the fun? Sign up.

I don’t know how much a wii costs through Amazon but you can get a $5 gift card for 45 SB and you can use as many gc’s as you have/want to spend on an item.

I think it really depends on how many referrals you have and how much they search (for awhile I had 2 active search referrals and I was getting 15-20 sbs a week just from them.

Much less time than that. Jenny will earn lots more than a wii in that time period, and she’ll be able to do it without ever having to purchase anything through their search engine to get what she wants.

I started swagbucks a few months ago and had gotten enough to get $20 worth of Amazon gift cards for Christmas shopping. Apparently you can earn a lot when other people sign up and use you as a referral so if you add a swidget to southernsavers you can earn even more!

One tip for those who have lots of Swagbucks:

Given the new changes to the maximum number of gift cards you can get now (only 5 of the $5 Amazon gift cards per month) the best thing is to try to go for the higher value Amazon gift cards – like the $50 and $100 ones;)

The only problem with going with the higher value amazon cards is that you are spending more swagbucks per dollar – if you compare how many SB you are spending per Amazon dollar you will see what I mean. I always go for the $5 amazon card – I guess i haven’t run into the problem of having too many swagbucks and not enough cards to redeem… (YET)

As you search using their site or toolbar it will pop up and tell you that you have earned or found one. (Not that I’m expert yet, this is still day one for me :) )

I was wondering if you did Swagbucks Jenny. I just started researching it this week. I just don’t understand why they have this possible…they get paid from their advertisers? but, why do they reveal what google has searched?
I just have to understand it before I take the leap. Anyone have a better explanation for me? Thanks everyone!

It’s really not a leap to take. Whenever you go online and you need to look it up use swagbucks search – win swagbucks and get free stuff. I have already gotten $25 of amazon cards to spend – free money!! No leap taken- just websurfing.

Sounds a lot like spybot technology only, me, the end user is agreeing to let them watch where I go, etc. And of course I will get paid for that. As far as computer security goes, I am not so sure the firewall we use will work well with this, not to mention how my husband will take to the add-on. :::sigh:: anyone else have any more insight into this?

There is no add on. You don’t have to down loac their tool bar, you can go to http://www.swagbucks.com and search. Their search engine is powered by google and ask.com. Read the FAQs to have your spybot questions answered. Google tracks and stores your searches for years. If you think you are using a search engine and not being tracked then you need to learn a lot more about search engines espicall Google.

Use both! I use Swag just for searching (although you can use it for shopping) and Ebates for shopping! I have only had my account a couple of months, and I am not great at remembering to Swag for searches, but I have already redeemed $15 in Amazon!

I have been using SB for about 6 months and MOST of my christmas presents came from them through amazon.com. Even though amazon doesn’t ship to RI, luckily I can have them ship to my dads work in CT and he brings my packages to me. I adore swagbucks & I hope they never stop their site!

Do some sites give you bucks and others don’t? I searched for restaurants.com and I got no points… Does anyone know what sites are good to search for points. I don’t think I understand this completely…

I love Swag Bucks. It’s totally legit. I joined in September and have already earned $100 in free Amazon gift cards. There are lots of prizes you can get, but the Amazon gift cards are the best deal and you can get just about anything from Amazon. Thanks to Swag Bucks, I was able to get my husband a Christmas gift without him knowing about it and without him paying for it himself out of his paycheck! I’d encourage everybody to check it out.

There are lots of ways to earn swag bucks. Searching is just one of them. I usually get swag bucks two or three times a day from searching. There’s also usually an extra code every day, too. You can earn from special offers and also by shopping through Swag Bucks. Like if I want something from Walmart and don’t need it right away, I order it from their website with free site to store shipping and I earn one swag buck for every 5 dollars spent. There are lots of shop and earn sites. Also it you get referrals, your bucks add up really fast.

Swagbucks is great and totally works! I use it for all of my internet searches and use my bucks for Amazon gift cards! You do not get points everytime you search, but will get some points everyday. Fridays are Mega Swagbucks day so your chances of earning more bucks are higher.

I’ve been a SB user since November 2008 and have gotten over $200 worth of prizes (mostly Amazon GCs) in that year. I do have several referrals, but my husband doesn’t have any, and he’s gotten $40 in Amazon GCs this year just for searching (and most of that time we only used his account for 10 hours/week). So yeah – it’s totally legit, and I love it. =oD I got some of my husband’s seminary books last semester, an espresso maker, some jeans, a CD, a space heater, and a bluetooth car kit, and a few Christmas presents, with my GCs from SB.

To those who keep forgetting to use it, download the search box for Firefox, and then it’s like default to use it to search. The results are not as good as Google (which is weird since it’s powered by Google) but it’s so worth a few extra seconds to get all those goodies for free.

My little sister and my Mom had an account and Swagbucks shut down both their accounts and black listed them from the website. So be careful, unless your husband uses his work address or a PO BOX.

I agree with everyone else to download the toolbar. Then you can use it as a default search engine. i have gotten $15 worth of Amazon GCs and have 145 swagbucks right now.

Love Swagbucks! I try to at least do a couple of searches a day, and I think I’m up to about $30 in Amazon certificates just since September.

Instead of typing in the name of the site you want to go to, or using your bookmarks, always type them in the search. You’d be surprised how many swagbucks you can get this way! I have even gotten a few by typing in “Southern Savers” ;)

I LOVE Swagbucks! Started in May and have gotten well over $100 in Amazon gift cards plus I’ve also gotten some others! And don’t forget about Mega Swagbucks Friday! They randomly reward points as high as 20, 50, and 100. I have yet to get a big one but my friend did!

I also love swagbucks! I started a few months ago. I search in the am, get my SB, and there is usually a code out in the afternoon/evening for at least 1 sb and then I get another SB in the evening from searching. I am averaging 1 $5 amazon card every 2 weeks.

I forgot to say above that the best place to find SwagCodes is this thread on Slickdeals: http://slickdeals.net/forums/showthread.php?t=1291711 Just go to the end of the thread. People post links to the Swidget or Toolbar or Blog or whatever, when there are new codes. It’s by far the easiest way to find codes without having to hunt or download anything.

You can set swagbucks.com as your default “home page” too. I prefer that to any widget, which I still have to remember to use. From internet explorer, click the menu bar “tools” then “internet options” and the first tab is General. There’s a white box where you can paste the swagbucks.com web address. Then whenever you open your browser, it will automatically go to swagbucks as “home.” I’m signing up now!

I have only been doing swagbucks for a few weeks and already have $10 in Amazon.com giftcards to use. Here is a tip though, i’ve been told not to purchase the prizes through swagbucks but to use your Amazon GC’s toward one from there. If you compare how many swagbucks it takes to get the wii and look on amazon to find out the cost and then find out how many swagbucks you need to get that amount in Amazon GC you will find it is better to do Amazon. So I’m just wondering if I am doing something wrong. I have been on Swagbucks since Sept & have only earned 98 swagbucks….I have only earned $5 once & all the others are $1. So am I doing something wrong?
I have tried referring friends but no one has joined & I don’t have a blog to promote it…so how do I get more swagbucks?

I must be the only person who has failed at Swagbucks. I got 3 for signing up a couple of months ago and still only have 8 now. I’ve never gotten any through a search and I use it many, many times per day. I don’t blog so I won’t be getting any that way. I’ve done everything everyone has suggested, but to no avail! Oh, well! I’m glad it works for everyone else!

exactly where do you enter the code when you get one to earn the swagbucks? i got a message on the toolbar with a code to enter but don’t know where to input it.

At the Swag Bucks website, on the right side, under your name and number of swag bucks, you’ll see a box that says Enter a Swag Code. Copy and paste the code into that box and click on Gimme. The box will turn red and tell you that you’ve gotten a swag buck.

i signed up for sb a couple of months ago, i’ve earned one $5 amazon g/c (i tried looking for it on my amazon account, i can’t find it! i tried to see if i ‘accidentally’ spent it, but i don’t know how?) i had planned to save up for a kindle….and wonderful ds gave me one for christmas…now i’m saving for a wii fit….

i have 18 sb towards my next $5 amazon g/c….

i do websearches on the sb toolbar, but the most i’ve ever gotten was $3…it’s kind of slow going for me, but that’s ok…slow and steady wins the race, right?

If you entered your gift card code into your Amazon account, it would have been automatically applied the next time you made a purchase. If you want to accumulate multiple gift cards to be used on one purchase, you’ll need to hold them in your “my gift cards” section in your swagbucks account. Then, when you’re ready to make your large purchase at Amazon, enter all the codes just before you shop. Hope this helps :)

Actually, you can choose not to apply your gift cards to a particular purchase. The default is to draw from your gift card balance, but you can change that by clicking on “Change” under “Payment Method” at checkout. So, you can go ahead and transfer your gift cards to Amazon right away and then use them when you want to. That’s what I do.

I have been accumulating some Swagbucks and have a question about redeeming them for Amazon giftcards. Will Amazon allow me to use multiple small gift cards on the same purchase? Or am I limited to use just one gift card per purchase? That will affect if I choose to redeem my Swagbucks for lots of $5 cards (getting up to the limit each month and saving them up) or if I get a larger card. Thanks for any advice!!

Apparently, it’s only one account per household. If they see that there’s more than one account per address, they may deactivate your accounts.

Love Swagbucks! With you having a fabulous website, with so many visitors, it should be easy. Couponing to Disney wanted $200 for an Amazon Christmas and she met her goal and $374 more. So, swagbucks is awesome especially for websites like yours.

I’m checking out the slickdeals, thanks for the tip. I have the toolbar up, but I already turned off swagbucks as the homepage for searches because the search results are all advertisers and I wanted to be able to choose my search engine quickly. I am using it to get here and to FB and have already got a buck for searches.I also follow cha-ching on a shoestring and she posts all the swagbucks deals, but I went through SS to sign up because Jenny gets my loyalty!
