I’m all about a warm bowl of oatmeal in the winter, but in the summer, I want something quick and refreshing for breakfast. I love making smoothies because they can be portable if needed, and you can prep ingredients ahead of time in the freezer to make it faster in the morning. It’s also a great way to pack in fruits and even vegetables! A kid who balks at a bowl of cooked spinach will likely suck a smoothie made with spinach down (you can’t even taste it!).

Smoothies are also super flexible. I’ve rounded up 10 healthy and frugal smoothie recipes, but you can adapt them to fit your preferences and diet.
