A few weeks ago I spent an evening walking through Sam’s being a spy. I was on a hunt for things that were horrible buys and to get an idea of what would be a good deal. I’m going to share the bad news first, here’s what you shouldn’t buy in Sam’s (or I’m going to be bold here and say any warehouse club). Don’t fret, tomorrow I’ll share a list of deals that are amazing at Sam’s.
10 Things NOT to Buy at Sam’s
1. Dog Treats & Dog Food
Rather than going big for your pets, the deals are much cheaper in grocery stores and Target with sales and coupons. One example:
Sam’s – Dentastix Treats, 62 ct., $19.94
Publix – Dentastix Treats, 6 ct., $1
Target – Dentastix Treats, 32 ct., $9.32
To compare the same size, grab 10 of the Publix packages for $10. You save $9.94 off the Sam’s price to buy it somewhere else.
2. Soda Bottles & 2 Liters
I would never pay more than $1 for a 2 liter soda, and I’m definitely going to pay to join a club just to pay $1.32 a bottle. Wait for sales at the grocery store and even without coupons you’ve got their price beat.

Other size bottles are also over priced. We can normally find the 6 pack, 16.9 oz bottles, on sale for $2-$2.50 each in the grocery store. At Sam’s they are basically $3.12 a pack.
3. Paper Plates
This is one item that even Fred’s beats the warehouse price. Comparing name brand plates (Dixie) you can get them for 4¢ a plate at various stores on sale or 8¢ a plate at Sam’s. That’s double the price!
There is a new Sargento coupon to print to help you save on cheese slices! You can use this with an upcoming Publix sale to get the cheese for $1.95.
This cheese could be great to have on hand at those Memorial Day cookouts. This deal starts 5/24 or 5/25 but go ahead and print your coupons.

Summer is here and we’re always looking for things to get us out of the house and working together as a family. This week I’m going to have 5 days of giveaways with some favorite summer goodies. Today’s giveaway is all about yard games (or you can take them to the beach)!
The first game we’re giving away is a croquet set. This isn’t just a game for English people in their gardens, it’s really fun to set up during a barbecue. Plus, it makes you feel kind of fancy to be playing croquet.
Next, we have an all-time favorite beach game: bocce ball. This one’s an easier set-up and a little easier for the kids to join in on.
