A lot of folks start an Etsy store for some extra cash. For Deb Cadovius, it’s a means to go through with her family’s adoption. Last year they felt led to adopt a baby girl from China and Cad Bags is helping them bring their little girl, Elizabeth, home.
Deb’s husband is deployed with the Navy while she raises funds. They have two sons, Erick and Ethan. She started sewing when her two sons began going to school during the day and she realized how much she loved it. So, she started the shop.
Deb’s handmade items are very functional. I’m in love with the Chevron bag below! One item that I know a lot of you will love is the envelope/couponing wallet. I put both of them to use though. One for our envelope system and one for coupons. I have explained in the past that I only cut coupons when I need them so this holds all the coupons that are ready for each store will visit that week. They are in separate pockets by store.

We are talking about how to save on baby stuff. For such tiny people they can cost a ton, so figuring out how to save on diapers, food, wipes and everything else is a necessity. One thing that we discussed was how to get more coupons for baby products. There are a number of ways, but the biggest way is to make sure that you are registered with any baby clubs at the stores you frequent. Each store will send store specific coupons and deals just for members of their club. It’s free to join and they send you offers… there is really no reason to not sign up! You can register as soon as you find out you’re expecting, there is no need to wait until the baby is here. You really want to be stocking up on the things they need early.
Tip: Grandparents, Aunts etc. can also sign up. They may want to keep some of the coupons that come (like Publix sends $1 off milk) but odds are they will share most of the coupons with you. Many grandparents also create registries now if they will be helping to take of babies, so have them do that too if they want.
