With the extra stress, it’s easy to overspend in this area and baby items are known for their high markup. Especially if you are shopping at a “baby” store. Even though this time can be overwhelming, there is always a way to save and this quick tip doesn’t take too much effort.
Other than a handful of loss leader deals in their ads, I’ve never thought of Toys R Us or Babies R Us as a frugal option for baby deals, until I discovered their price match policy. After several days of holding an upset newborn, I decided it was time to invest in a swing. Amazon had the lowest price I could find online, it was at least $40 less than everyone else. Rather than waiting for it to come, I headed to my local Babies R Us with a printout and the page pulled up on my phone to ask for a price match.
To my surprise, this was done at the customer service desk with a few pushes of a button. The Babies R Us price was a good $70 more than the Amazon price and they didn’t bat an eye at lowering it for me!
This is also great when you forget something important while traveling, or need a last minute gift for a baby shower. Just because you are in a rush, doesn’t mean you have to pay full price!
